Vincent. I truly admire your tenacity. My father took me to Ireland on a fishing holiday when I was 16. Father owned a camper van a dormobil. Our first stop was the awesome Lough as we came around the pass (left side). Neither of us had seen it before, looking unlike the English resevoirs, with islands and wave bigger we had ever seen at RUtland. We hired a boat from an old man who had a cottage in lake road the next day. The storm had passed but left a lot of cloud and a spinning wind, we just motored out with seagull engine, father said well this looks ok. Later we found out we approaching the black rocks, not one visable! The drift was crazy, we bounst from one rock to another but still casting. Father had 3 biggest 4lb I had 1 at 3.9 lb. We took the same drift but started a different angle. Well, by lunch on church ! We had 6 in the creel and returned no end of juniors. We left there catching in 3days over 50 sea trout! Then we went to Ballyduff! OK.....seriously now, why has currane collapsed as a no. One seatrout fishery? The lack of hatchery fish returning must be addressed too????

Great story I enjoyed it immensely. The answer to your question is simple. Fish farm. They put a fish farm just outside the river from lough Currane. Its there a number of years and its killing the fishery. Mans greed ruins everything.

@@Vincentdonnelly5158 thank you for your prompt reply. Is that the fish farm inland? Near the old mink farm? Only five years ago I took my last visit there, I saw no fish farm in the bay, nor heard the guys in the lobster bar talk about it? And how on Earth could a fish farm stay anchoured in that winter sea? Also any shit or lice coming from it would be washed away. I have another theory, as told by a fishery agent to me.

Thank you again. It is a very special place for me too. My father fished the Lough for many more years. On my last visit five years ago, I scattered his ashes off his favorite island, c hurch!

I've watched this loads, but just noticed how big your measure of Jameson is at 6:42!! I've just nearly choked to death laughing. That was certainly a 'night cap'. Ha Ha

Vincent Donnelly Hopefully! I'm going to try and get out through the week but it's a battle with the weather at the minute. I just wish the milder weather would hurry up! I'm desperate to get cracking at some rising fish!
