Louie Lopez's "West End" Part

We’ve watched him shred since he was knee high to Arto Saari. Three feet and a haircut later, Louie Lopez has emerged as one of the most gifted, versatile and beloved skaters alive. Silky gnar, perfect feet and with an endless arsenal of tricks on all terrain, this part captures a world-class ripper at the top of his game. He might just be the perfect skateboarder. In respects to SOTY, I really wish Louie got it. This part may not have had the hugest handrail banger of all time, but the skateboarding in this video was the most fun to watch. Everyone knows skateboading media today is so over saturated with new parts coming out everyday we forget the parts the next day. I think in this part Louie took something skating has been missing and really was able to make something that felt classic. Hats off Lou!!!

Skating is so subjective and that makes it really unique. That being said i expect some hate here: I honestly don't care for Louie's skating. I respect his versatility, but i don't like his style or trick selection. Too many fs shuvs, wallrides and boardsliding on ledges, his style reminds me of Evan smith. Which is not the style i like. To me style is when it looks like its impossible for you to fall and your feet are always in the same spot on the board (during pop and landing). People like Tom Asta, Carlos Riberio, Kelly Hart etc. Evan/Louie land all over the board on their tricks it looks sketchy to me. I totally respect the hell out of his ability to skate everything. Also, put some proper skate shoes on nothing looks good in Converse all stars. Joslin/Tiago for SOTY.

Will be cool to see retrospectives of these big pros in the internet era of skating. There was so much heavy stuff in here and Louie has released multiple parts every year since. This was over 4 years ago 😮. There’s do many original tricks in this part, stuff people don’t really do anywhere. I love Louie. This part is really incredible, and not only because he kills it. The editing and music choice is perfect. The first half of this part alone blows my mind. I love how the first song changes up from slow to fast as the skating progresses. I was reminded of Ishod's SB Chronicles 2 part while watching this. They both share a similar quality. They build up, and the right clips are used at the right parts of the songs. Parts like these are fucking memorable! SOTY.
