Hey painted his nails before but it was always already of or partially of when photographed, Louis gave him the confidence to as Louis said “to embrace it”. Even though I tend to read a lot of these things as romantic rather than platonic, at the end it doesn’t really matter. They were soulmates, whether it was romantic or platonic, and the separation that was (in my opinion) forced upon them by management is just heartbreaking to me and still has visible lingering effects on them to this day. It’s a beautiful yet tragic story of soulmates driven apart by the people with power over them and their circumstance in the world (in their case romantic or platonic) - honestly a lot like Romeo and Juliet.
