Imagine walking into a club with a group like that playing! They had everything, all the Witnesses top players. I saw Louis in 1948 at Prima's 500 club in New Orleans (his brother owned it ..Leon. He just bowled me over and made me a lifetime fan. I saw him in the 70s at the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans....He died later of a brain tumor. Sam Butera introduced him in NO as "A man who sings pretty for the people " .....and he did just that. NOBODY today could equal him! deralte

true story: back in the very early 90's, my brother and I were in Las Vegas. I'm trying to remember which casino we were in one late afternoon/early eve. for some reason I'm thinking it was Harrah's or it could have been the Sands. I hear this beautiful voice in the distance and I walk around to get closer to it. I tell my brother it sounds like Keely Smith but it just couldn't be. And there she was. with maybe a 4 piece band....in this little nook or corner of the casino...and I was in awe. People walking by not paying much attention and I wanted to shout, "do you know who this is????!!!" Keely had one of the most beautiful voices I've had to my ears. It was a little sad to think this woman who still had this beautiful voice and it just didn't seem like many really appreciated it or her piece in the history of Las Vegas show rooms big headliners of the long-gone hay day. It was a nice moment for me for sure.
