It's something I've heard said more by Mancs or Liverpudlians, but it basically does mean a younger sibling or someone you're protective of and/or take care of that's younger and similar to that of a sibling. 'R'kid' = our kid = a kid belonging to us in some way, shape, or form; our kid sister/our kid brother.
