@richardharrold9736 I like Flentrop organs a lot, but I was referring to the great Arp Schnitger organ at the Jakobikirche!
@EElgar1857 Жыл бұрын
@richardharrold9736 No! The pipes was removed from the organ, almost at the last minute, and saved! The organ has been rebuilt twice, the first time, in the 1950s (I think), with new mechanical action, new windchests, and a new case. That work gave the keyboards a very hard (stiff) action, but many great organists made recordings on it anyway! More recently, it has been lovingly restored (at enormous cost, I've heard), and is now magnificent in every way, including the action.

Organist Fasang, besides being an excellent organist in this video, must be very Tall. I suspect playing an organ with his height is not easy, but it doesn't cause any problems with his technique. What is the make and ranks of the organ; it's façade is beautiful.
@paulfasang86373 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I am not that tall, but to be honest, I used the wide angle camera to film this, and the picture is slightly distorted, what makes my arms and legs look longer than they are. From this main console I can play three separate organs at once: the main organ, built by Steinmeyer, not in the picture is the Marcussen organ, which is located right of the camera position and finally there is an auxiliary organ in the ceiling. For the carillon I eventually used all three organs.

@@paulfasang8637 You mention 3 organs, but I see a fourth, in the center of the picture. (Or is that the Marcussen?)

Germany always has the whackiest church building designs. Not much of a sacred feel, but makes a pretty interesting concert hall.
@andreacosta743 жыл бұрын
True, more similar to english “town halls”. I’m from Rome and I must confess you that I would gladly give up a few hundred square meters of frescoes in order to have a church with similar big and stunning instruments
@stthomasmore48113 жыл бұрын
@@andreacosta74 Can you imagine what the massive Cavaillé-Coll instrument planned for St. Peter's Basilica would have sounded like? Sadly, it never got built and life in Rome's largest church continued without fanfare.
@andreacosta743 жыл бұрын
@@stthomasmore4811 yes, I imagine it perfectly, but unfortunately it would be the least suitable place. San Pietro is a deserted, extraterritorial temple, which since 2001 can only be accessed partially and in a row following obligatory routes ... the same thing for the Cathedral of Rome which is S. Giovanni in Laterano. In reality there are many neo-Romanesque, neo-Renaissance, neo-Gothic churches built between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries that would lend themselves to hosting large organs but unfortunately there is no interest and desire neither from the civil authorities nor from the ecclesiastical ones ...

It’s a mechanical connection why would you be surprised to occasionally hear them?
@bbbdco2 жыл бұрын
How could it be a mechanical organ, when the console is situated across the nave from the organ pipes? For it to be a mechanical instrument, the console has to be attached below the pipe work.
@brucetominello3252 жыл бұрын
@@bbbdco that organ has two consoles, one attached below the pipe work and one across the nave. It’s just like the organs at St. Eustache and St. Clotilde in Paris. In some videos at St. Eustache when Ospital is playing at the remote console they cut to the gallery console and show the keys moving with no one at the console.
