I still love my LV reverse monogram *preluxz* lutch! It's versatile, fits a variety of items, and is definitely a workhorse! I think seeing it everywhere (like the LV speedy) is proof that it's already a classic.

I had a Marc Jacobs bag I got on eBay that had VERY strong perfume smell. I also happened to have gotten a Hermes Garden Party that also had a perfume smell just after that. It took quite an effort, but I put ground coffe in baggies that I left open in the bags, which absorbs odor. It did help. I returned the first bag as it was just too much and was a cheap yucky perfume. The Hermes I kept putting outside during the day on my patio. I also put baking soda little dishes in it. It took some time (few weeks), but it is all good now. I put an RP7 insert in it so that also helped. So KEEP AT IT! It may just take a little time. And what a beautiful bag that looks so great to use that you have now!

Hello I’ve had this bag for several yrs and it does accumulate a smell over time. It’s actually a makeup bag (got it cause I couldn’t afford the hard makeup case at the time). I use it for travel or overnight stays which works out great. Other than the smell it’s a great bag and at the time I bought it the cost was $900 so it’s hard for me to part with..wishing you the best ❤

Thanks for the shout out! Let me mention a few more things. LV no longer replaces linings, they only do leather and hardware. BUT other cobblers will disassemble the bag and replace linings. I was watching an instagram on a totally refurbished by non-LV bag. It looked great but, of course, loses resale value. The other thing I will mention is about the Morikami multicolor bags in similar styles ( trueville and sologne). They don’t smell because they’re lined with alcantara. There is another potential issue there, but not smell. I bought a vintage reporter from Japan. It has the same lining but mine has no smell, thankfully! 🌈❤️

If you don’t want to keep it, you should send it back to the person who gifted it. Maybe someone else might not have a problem with the scent. LV doesn’t replace linings.

Thanks for the follow up. I hope the smells does slowly go away. I wouldn’t be able to deal with a melted crayon smell either. I’d have a headache in 5 seconds! It just looks like such a good bag!

I love my Deauville. It's the perfect toiletry/makeup/overnight bag. My biggest complaint is that it is heavy. It does have a waxy crayola smell that I'm trying to minimize at this point, but it's not bad enough for me to let the bag go. It's certainly a forever bag for me. By the way, the last version of this bag that LV sold a few years ago was called the bowling bag.

Oh! I thought you would skip the cleaner I suggested since it was confirmed that it has wax coating. If you cleaned it once you can do it again because it really deodorizes well!! I would then keep the bag open and use a fan on medium speed blowing into it over night. It should dry it and also help “air” it out more efficiently. When there’s other smells trying to cover another smell it just mixes the smell is what I’ve noticed. I hope you get to use this beautiful free bag in the end! An organizer would help avoid touching the wax layer and make it useable. 😊 Love you! ❤😘💕

Ok this might be a crazy idea or stupid but have you popped it in your freezer for a few minutes? It will stop the wax melting and kill bacteria that might aid in the smell. I'm not saying leave it until it's hard as a rock frozen but maybe 10/15 minutes?

Just received this bag from eBay. Seems legit, authenticity wise. However, the zipper is sticky. Not as smooth as what yours shows. I am having baby #4 and was going to use this as a diaper bag and also a luggage piece. Do you have any recommendations on helping a zipper that seems sticky? The bag is from 2004.

Yes! I take wax paper and really rub the zipper down with it. They also make stuff in a chapstick like tube from Amazon. I’ll try and find and link in the description for you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Improper storing be damned, I store mine perfectly in climate controlled 24/7 environment but Louis Vuitton continued to use that sub-standard lining product for years and years and should have REFUNDED EVERYONE they hawked that rubbish to!!! LV might've deserved their reputation decades ago, but these days they most certainly do not ... I've sold my vast vintage collection over the last 2-3 years, only a few Speedy's to go and that's it, I'll never support them again after their sticky-liner-shitstorm!!!
