Beyond grateful for this video... I bought this pochette in decent condition but have always wondered if I'd be able to send it in for a full vachetta replacement. Based on what you said, it sounds like yes to the strap, studded strips on each side and even the bow? So everything but the piping :~D thank you for this information!

Hi super cute purse. I learned my lesson on trying to watch KZbin videos or googling how to do stuff myself. I would rather pay a cobbler to clean it and fix it because I had a bad experience and it cost me more than if I would have just taken it in the 1st time and some cobblers will not even touch it if it's been touched before so lesson learned thankfully he was able to fix my mistake. If you find a really good cobbler they can fix the leather on there as well they have sources where they can get that leather from another Louis Vuitton purse you just have to find the right cobbler.

Such an informative video, thank you for sharing the repair info I never knew they could repair these older styles! So can they replace the bow or just the leather straps? And curious when you get the tab replaced will it still say made in France? Or will they change to the repair country?

Hi Rachel! All great questions! I didn't think about that tab but honestly I think they wouldn't replace it with Made in France since the repair center is here in the US. Since I pretty much ruined the bag, I might bring it in to repair the leather part with the bow. If they cannot, I might just have to buy a new bag and let my daughter have this one!

Hey! Thanks for the video! Sorry that it took so long for me to watch it. I have had a crazy week. So glad it's Sunday here. The piece looks beautiful with the patina. However, I don't think that smell is possible to be removed. I have had friends whose perfume bottle has broken in a bag, and the sense is always there. I don't know what kind of senses this bag has seen in Vegas, but you know what they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas ; ) However, I think it gives the bag a story, so it's perhaps of higher value emotionally. I’m getting mine from Fashionphile on Tuesday! I’m excited to see her. I paid more than double you did :( So regarding the cracking, I recall watching videos that mentioned that you need to condition the hell out of the vachetta prior to washing. If you need to wash multiple times then you need to condition in between. They said that over washing will cause cracking. It’s the process of drying that causes the cracks to develop.

Put a clean paper inside the bag, then put a Bituminous coal for days .. the bad smell will be vanish. My mother used to put the Bituminous coal in refrigerator to absorb the food smell and keep the refrigerator fresh.

Ok, first up, you’re very brave to bathe the bag 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Gosh, the filth! Love that pre Harrahs reno” comparison. Hahaha. I am amazed and actually love how it turned out.It’s still very beautiful. Glad you got the strap. The Pochette is one of very useful on the bag. I have the same issue with one of my bag I bought preloved. It has a very strong perfume smell. More like cleaner smell. It’s not bad and doesn’t bother me. BUT , I can’t put them in display with my other purses because I’m afraid it’ll transfer the smell. That’s how strong it is. I bought an activated charcoal on Amazon and smell is not as strong anymore but not going away. I’m now considering just giving a light wash on the canvas (not dunking the whole bag). Lol.

I had to sis, my hands felt dirty every time I touched her! I have to say the canvas washed beautifully! I wish I had just spent the $800 though for a better bag🤦🏻‍♀️ it’s still cute though. Try newspaper in the bag to absorb the odor. Have a lovely day ❤️

I’ve washed full leather, unlined vintage Coach bags. I’ve used 5% white cleaning vinegar to help neutralize smells. I’ve stayed away from a lot of preloved newer and vintage luxury bags because of the ick factor. You don’t know where it’s been. Every time I read “musty odor” or any kind of odor in a description I’m immediately turned off by it. I might try my hand at washing a vintage LV bag one of these days but I probably won’t soak it in a vinegar solution. I soak my Coach bags for a couple of hours at least.

I also got a LV second hand from Japan, and it was really musty smelling. I ended up stuffing it with my old T shirts that I was going to donate/discard, and it was able to absorb most of the smell, and smelled more like.... me, I guess, haha.

HEHEHEHE "where the velour red cushions are worn out from the overweight men sitting on them." I know that place! =) the same thing happened with my toiletries 26. I dont like to advertise that I washed it because I know it's really bad advice, but I didnt have anything to lose. I had to bathe it 3 times when deodorizing methods wouldn't work for the terrible, awful, chain cigarette smoker odor. I did it by hand in my sink. the water was tobacco colored and I had to rinse it until it wasn't yellow anymore. after the 3rd bath I kept an arm and hammer deodorizer in it for a long time in case it dried with the same smell like it had the 2 other times. it doesn't smell anymore but it took a long time and I lot of trial and error. I feel like I can fix anything now, though. lol
