honestly i love that you did a lot of the work yourself. even if you didn’t know how something worked you figured it out. i’ve seen way too many move in vlogs where the parents just do everything, and i feel like doing it yourself really makes the place yours.

Hi! I had a few questions about move in day at NYU. 1. Was move-in day confusing for you at NYU? Was it easy to find where to check in, where your dorm room was, etc? 2. How did you manage to move-in in the middle of NYC? Did you have to carry all of your stuff in the streets lol? I was curious about this because NYU isn’t like a traditional college (location-wise). 3. How do you pack larger items that aren’t clothes (small drawers, coffee brewers, printers, shoe racks, etc)? Or did you buy them there? 4. When do you find out who your roommate(s) are? When you arrive? Prior? 5. Kind of unrelated to move in day, but do students move out of dorms when they become upperclassmen? I know NYU has upperclassmen dorms, but do students ever have the money for apartments and such? 6. Also kind of unrelated, but what do you think the top 3 dorms at NYU are? 7. Kind of random, but when do you get to find out your dorm’s specific address (like room number, floor, etc.)? Do you find out extremely early on? Or on move-in day? That’s all, sorry there’s a lot, but thanks so much!

I would say it depends on how many clothes you have and how much space you have, it is probably best to bring your favorites that are in season and then have your parents mail you anything else you need or mail back the items you do not have room for.

Beautiful Madness I started by going through all of my clothes and donating what I hadn’t worn in a long time plus what I did not plan on wearing. Be honest with yourself- if you don’t wear it at home you won’t wear it at school. Doing this brought down the load by A LOT (I hadn’t organized my clothes in a long time lol). So then I packed everything I wear regularly but consider this- I have like 8 pairs of black leggings... but do I really need them all? No. Therefore I only packed my two favorite pairs. Same thing for sweats- I have lots of sweatpants but I really only need my three favorite pairs to alternate, ya know? Even sweatshirts, I have so many but I only brought my four favorite knowing that I would wear them to sleep, to class, and even out and about without having the space of 7 other sweatshirts I don’t regularly wear. Going in, I left my winter jacket and sweaters at home. On fall break, I brought home all of my running shorts and summer crop tops and exchanged for winter clothes and sweaters. Exchanging clothes through the seasons helps save space. You can even ask a family member to send you something if you don’t go home and you can send things back. It’s hard to tackle, whether to bring everything or not because it does depend on how many pieces you alternate throughout your day to day life, but I know what you will and won’t wear and go from there. Never hurts to leave spaces for new tshirts either! :) good luck choosing a school.. so exciting!

Beautiful Madness Some. Don’t take too much, it’ll be a hassle if it doesn’t all fit. I’d say if you live within driving distance of your home, bring clothes seasonally and your favorite/most worn. If you live really far just bring your favs for every season

Depending on how close/far you live from home, if you can’t drive home, then bring most of your clothes. If you brought too much you can always bring some home over break. But especially if you’re out of state or far away from home then bring all dem! Good luck!

I’m Aussie and most Aussie uni’s don’t have dorms. Also, can anyone tell me what are all the things placed on her original dorm bed? Like here in Australia, all we have is a mattress cover, a pillow, and a heavy blanket. If we feel fancy we might add some cushions. But like srsly tho, the camp beds here look like ur uni ones and I’m wondering what do you put on there to make it more bouncy/comfy.

hey sarah! so i lived in Third North last year. There are three towers in third north two of residents but for the dorming situation, i believe when you are accepted you make a list of your top dorm down and honestly i think it was third on my list but yes i got so lucky!!! not all rooms are layed out like my floor but i didn’t pick what floor or room so just the luck of the draw!

thats so exciting congrats!!💕 but yes I put this wallpaper up from target and used command strips on the back of the frames. You can't put holes in the walls for nails but you can def put frames or anything on the wall with command strips and just to be careful when taking them off but that is def allowed :)

Hmm all of them are realllyyy close in proximity. Mostly all dorms have high floors but i haven’t been to all of them on top floors. My dorm third north on the 13th floor was amazing, brittney has some but some dorms face inward to the other side of the dorm. It’s hard because you don’t have a choice on floors. Founders i believe has one (i think) not sure about weinstein or lipton or Uhall xx
