Something really interesting, but this is very clearly Ska adacjent right? Only A Lad was dropped June 1981, the exact same month as Ghost Town by The Specials, which considered one of the most formative songs in Ska. I know "Ska" (Reggae) and "Ska" (Punk) are totally different things, I'm just using Ska as an umbrella term here, I just find it wild the band accidentally just made a song in a style that wouldn't be developed on for another decade.

Sometimes I think about how this song, as well as a bunch of Oingo Boingo's other works, have almost all the key components of the Ska genre almost 2 decades before that really became a thing. These guys were really ahead of their time.

@@JTheFool Ah right, even then it was very unlike any ska I’ve heard from the UK and a pretty unique blend. Their ska era may have been short lived and most the songs didnt make it to recording but it was a very creative time!
