What a pleasure it is to see and hear Louise Ferrenc's Symphony no.1 performed! I have long been an ardent admirer of her symphonic works. Conductor Michelle Merrill's is marvelous and does justice to this "fiery" piece of music. Also, hats off to Bend's recording technical director, for guiding the camera work in the making of this video. Joe Shinnick Brunswick, GA. PS: My wife and I are looking forward to seeing Michelle Merrill leading the Coastal Georgia Symphony performing Marie Louise Farrenc's Symphony no.1 in 2024.

Very nice performance of a beautiful piece! I am very active on Twitter, mostly politically, and as a kind of "recreation" I regularly post historical tweets - "This day in history" sort of tweets - etc. And today - May 31 - happens to be Louise Farranc's birthday! I haven't heard of her before, and even my classically trained mother hasn't. I'm all the happier to have discovered her. Together with her astonishing biography I shared this video with the Twitterverse. Great orchestra! Thank you again for that performance!
