Outstanding job guys -- your duo reviews are always entertaining. Condolences for your loss Dave. I find Fosters Lager and Premium Ale to be very good -- and a great value (they are still 2 for $4 in my area). ESB's are such a rare breed and are one of my favorite styles. I used to be able to get Red Hook ESB and Fuller's easily but both have disappeared. One tip for pouring out of the 750ml cans -- counter punch the top of the can opposite the opening and you will get very little spillage. Cheers!

I sincerely offer my condolences for David's loss. Mr. Clarence had a good taste in beer. Extra-Special Bitter ales are also my favorite style. In this time, however, that is unfortunate becomes almost no american breweries make them. Foster's Premium Ale is a comfort because it is a consistent macro attempt at the style that I love. This is tied for my favorite cheap-ish beer with the Ballantine Ale (which I hold with similar nostalgic esteem as this was my father's favorite beer). I truly wish that the ESB style would become popular again. Unfortunately I am sure that you cannot get it but Threes Brewing out of New York City makes fantastic English style bitters, milds, and ESBs that I always seek out. Cheers to David's father!

Coincidentally tried this one tonight for the first time, didn't see this review from a week ago. Had the regular Foster's lager a year ago, wasn't a fan of that at all. I'd agree with your review, it's a perfectly fine beer. For how easy it is to find, and at ~$1.99-$2.99 near me for a 25oz can, not bad at all. A little different than a lot of the macrobrew tallboys you can get.

Not to be confused with the version we get here in the UK, a 3.7% overly carbonated tasteless bland atrocity, yet for some reason its one of the best selling lagers here, I suppose there's no accounting for the taste of the masses.

I'd be happy to skip that one. I think Foster's Premium Ale could have potential in Britain, but that alcohol level tax might price it out of the mass market. We can still get them for $1.99, here, and we don't have to deal with any such tax. Thanks for watching, Andrew Carr. I appreciate it!
