If the bank felt that it was an error, she should have made them go through a series of hoops, speak with several of her representatives, placed on hold for an hour before being disconnected and require them to fill out whatever paperwork according to the guidelines she's set. After review, she should reject the claim and if the bank disagrees with her decision, they can send a written request to have the case reviewed by a supervisor. Just like they do.

Then the bank took the money back. The man filed suit and told the judge that they had a right to get their money back but he should be allowed to keep the interest; which was quite a bit of money. So the teller was counting the $ and she kept counting and counting...about $1,000 over my balance! I stood there in amazement a watching her and let the cash sit on the counter. Then I was asked why I was closing the account. I then asked to see the Manager...and reported..."this is why I am closing my account..too many mistakes...I then showed him the correct balance and asked him to count the money. You should have seen his face!!! Priceless. Honesty is the best policy. Always. God is watching!

You give her the account details. She transfers it. You slice and dice it, wash it fast. Now the bank says, where's the money? Bank employee says, here's the details, she's transfered it to her mates. Hence you must have a court order in my opinion to return it. If you are alleging any wrong doing by a bank then have you reported it? and what specific criminal activity do you refer here? Or are you just mad that you were charged an overdraft a time or two? Well when you signed your banking contract all fees, charges, assessments and more were all in the paper stack as you applied! But here are the facts you'd never make the front door of the bank just as she who was immediately arrested, jailed and on trial and punished for multiple criminal felonies. took me 6 months to reimbusered from an "overseas" purchase. I live in the U.S. and someone purchased boots in China. It was only $125 but thats 1/5 of my paycheck. Turns out the information the criminals used was from a Facebook Purchase transaction. as soon as the bank realized that- eventually 6 months later- they paid it.

I understand 100% about the apology. One time at a supermarket, they gave me too little change back, and as it was a respectable sum they had incorrectly held back, I complained, and I had to go back the next day as they had to check camera footage. The next day, I went there, and they just gave me my money back with absolutely no apology, so I asked for an apology and they refused because they said it was an honest mistake and could have happened anywhere. So, I put the money back on the counter and told them they could have it, and I walked away

When I went to my first semester in medical school, years ago, I got a mistaken deposit for just over 1K. In 1965 that 1k was worth just under 10k now. This just appeared in my bank account. It was not my money. Had I tried to keep it, I would likely have been kicked out of the University. Believe me, I was poor. But I never thought about keeping it. I went to the bank immediately and demanded it be removed. I don't think I would have been re-accepted had I been arrested. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA) Retired surgeon

I had a refund given to me by my credit union for an overdraft fee, but they ended up giving me 2 refunds for the overdraft by mistake. I was in school at the time and extremely hard up for cash, but still made the call to tell them there was an error (I believe in karma). The customer service rep thanked me for being so honest and went back over the last 6 months and reversed 3 more overdraft fees and I ended up with 3x the amount I would have if I hadn't called.
