Have both the Atlas and Select for my kid (sophomore), he prefers the Atlas currently. It's just so damn loud hitting inside with it that he only swings wood so he doesn't annoy the other people at the facility.

Adding a Lizard Skin flared taper is the easiest hack to make a bat swing better. Did that with my son's Stinger Guardian 33/30, and he mashes with it.

These videos helps with deciding which bat to consider. It's ashamed that you can't purchase or get a feel for these bats a your local sports store (in Michigan), like Dicks Sporting Good. We used to have demo day at D-Bat but here they only carry Easton bats

Im 44 and love to take BP still in the cages. My 11 year old (12 in April) needs a middle school bat for next spring (bbcor for them) and we are looking at the Atlas. He does like the sound of the Combat more though lol. Hes a big kid for 11 (5'8" and 145lbs). He swings a 31" drop 5 USSSA ZOA atm. Keep up the great vids, we are always checking out the reviews as they drop.

The thing about putting so much emphasis on the Atlas's taper over the Dynasty is that you can just get some athletic tape and taper it that way. A lot of my teammates do that with their Voodoo ones and one did it on the old atlas, so the Dynasty's taper isn't really a big issue.

We have an Icon, Select Pwr and now the Combat. The Select is a great bat but noticeably doesn't have the pop of the Icon or Combat. Strong 14U Majors player.

Even for a younger kid, wouldn't you always want the bigger sweet spot? Especially if it is someone performing at a super average level, maybe a bat that makes good contact almost anywhere vs something more highly strung would be worth some more batting average/production to them?

yes and no.. sub 11-12 year old sure, 13-16 if you still need a bat with a giant sweet spot to be an above average hitter then it's just re-enforcing bad hitting imo. in most cases they're likely using a bat that's either too long, too end loaded, or not light enough for their swing speed.

Love both those bats, the atlas and the select. I have weighed multiple BBcor atlas bats, ranging from 31”-33”The weight ranges from a -1 to a -2. Straight out of the package. Have yet to see a -3 atlas. The selects seem on target with weight.

That often has to do with the grip tape and taper piece - which don’t contribute to the swing weight at all since they’re clear down by the hands

What is the best USA bat you’d recommend for a 7 year old who’s bigger for his age group about to move up to 10u next season? He’s more on the side of a power hitter. for all intents and purposes, the 2020-2025 are all the same bat. The 2025 has a slightly different feel and a very different sound. If anything... it might be a tiiiny bit better off the end of the bat.

After swinging those 2 bats about 1000x each over the last 5 years, they are 1 to 2 mph apart at the very most. I'd probably question the tracking method you're using, the sample size you got, or the contact quality you're getting with each bat.
