Brooks, I agree. People have to realize the destruction was far more than buildings. This was LIVEstock, and bloodlines perfected by years of breeding. It is beyond money...because it it almost impossible to replace. It is second only to people.

Only months ago after suffering years of drought we had major floods in Queensland Australia . And the poor bloody beef cattle drowned or were bogged and too weak to get out . I'm not sure but I think 100s of thousands of cattle were lost . A lot of farms have been crush to ruin because of this. My sympathy to all the farmers affected in the USA by these floods. It looks bloody grim

On these farms they have to build mounds large ones so the cattle get to high ground.

These people hadn't seen water in that spot for 47 years...and not everyone has time and money to just build a big mound...

Ron Wilcox yes but also to pray. their work destroyed quickly refreshing to hear how strangers and other states have helped. clean up is horrendous. folks still think all is fine when I warn grains beef all will go up. they'll see can't have this happen in such big proportion and not have the while country effected.

This is sad to see mother nature can be a bitch but this is not what our country was prepared for this is a huge loss and the farmers connection to his animals is a saddening thing i just hope it works out that they are all still in business when it settles.

In all due respect, was the Dust Bowl the product of CC? Was the Glaciers receding thousands of years ago the product of CC? This tact is tiring.
What nonsense! He lives beside a river. RIVERS FLOOD! Just because grandaddy didn't see one doesn't lessen the threat one iota. Now build a mound with a bulldozer and quit crying about your own failure to forsee the danger and your miserly mismanagement. Farmers get subsidies and are able to insure their herds. Why donate money to those who don't account for nature's wrath Would you give to a homeowner who built on an ocean front, the flank of a volcano or on a known fault?
