This is a great product! I covered six openings across my back porch 5 years ago and they’re still holding strong! No breakdown or UV damage whatsoever. I used cedar fence boards cut to size and stained them. I’m back now looking to possibly to place some around a small spa we just enclosed.

Do the shutters close fully? The end of the video didn’t show them closing all the way.
@NuvoIronVideosАй бұрын
Hey Anthony, the wall the louvers are designed, they have some overlap onto one another, so they don't close flush with one another.

Looking to do this for a few sections of our pergola. How could we open/close them if they were mounted horizontally on the pergola roof?
@NuvoIronVideos Жыл бұрын
Hi Jon, we have seen customers use something similar to a cane bolt or pole to push and pull them closed. A cane bolt style of rod can be a bit more helpful since it has a bend.

Hi. Any reason these can't be used for vertical slats?
@NuvoIronVideos8 ай бұрын
These can definitely be used vertically.

Video and Step 1 (diagram) says center line is 1 3/4 inches. The written instructions in the upper right hand corner of my instructions 00014894 says its 2 3/4 inch center line. I'm going with the 1 3/4inch center line, was confused there for some time.

I want to do this on one side of my front porch. One side has a beam of wood for structure and the other side is my house with siding. How would you recommend attaching to the side of my home with siding?

I would suggest reaching out to our customer service team to see if they can provide you some more info. You can email them at info@nuvoiron.com. Provide them any photos or info you may have, like in your comment above.

Do the slats close completely? The end of the video shows only a partial close
@NuvoIronVideos Жыл бұрын
Hi, they do not close completely flush, but for privacy or wind, the slats come close enough to block that and cover. But the way these are designed they arent flush, they seat on one another slanted.

I've watched this video a couple of times and I'm still confused as to the first hole at the bottom. I see the marking but where is the first hole? Do you place the actuator on the bottom and mark the middle hole or the top hole? The video seems to flash by this detail.
@NuvoIronVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy, the first hole would be the 3 1/2" measurement from the bottom. That marking is where you place the bottom hole of the actuator, but you only do this so you can find the placement of the second hole. You can find the PDF version of the instructions here as that may help to clarify, this would be step 2 & 3. Hope this helps! static.wixstatic.com/ugd/c4f997_fdb0b5b087ed47a2bd0a49c9b9eefb41.pdf

I suspect there are different council laws for louvres, as they are not considered solid structures more a covering for say, a window. But it can all become very complicated in it's own right.
@NuvoIronVideos4 жыл бұрын
You're right, we definitely suggest checking with local building requirements and codes before building any structure on your property.

Hello, Is there another technical name.for the actuator?
@NuvoIronVideos Жыл бұрын
Our team always refers to that piece as the actuator as it is the part's technical name. A non-technical term would be the 'mover' as it's the part that connects the brackets together to help the entire system to move once put together. Some people also call these the 'arms' or 'connectors'.

I want to connect this to some kind of free standing base. It will be west facing which receives the strongest winds. What is my best option for a base that will not cause the entire louvred wall to blow over? Also, can I connect my 4’ panels together or should they remain free of each other? Any maximum height restriction?
@NuvoIronVideos3 жыл бұрын
Hi Larissa, we don't suggest installing any type of privacy wall or structure to be free-standing. As every structure, as well as area, has different building codes though, we would suggest contacting a professional in your area for more information and/or checking out the building codes in your area. The connection of the sections, as well as height, would again be dependent on the type of structure, where it is, and other factors such as building codes.

The video shows measuring from the edge 1 3/4 and says that's centre. That's true for a 4" post or other vertical support, however the post in the video is a 6 x 6. Why would they be using a 6 x 6, but be talking about the dimensions of a 4x? Also, it's clear that the louvers, when fully opened, stick out in front of the edge of the 4x4, when installed on centre at 1 3/4. Other than the look, is there a benefit to using a 4x4 versus a 6x6? Are there any pictures anywhere of both installations?
@kathleenjones92073 жыл бұрын
It would be good on a 6x6 if you are planning on screening the structure to keep bugs out. That's what I'm going to do.
@jamesgerboc6 ай бұрын
I just saw this old post and wondering the same thing. I am stuck on how you would ever get the screws for the louver actuator in the end of each louver if it doesn't stick out. Based on the order they show in the video, if you center the bracket on the 6in post and have all the louvers installed, you have no way to get a screw into each end for the actuator because it doesn't stick out past the post when fully opened. You would have to know this ahead of time and install the actuator screws BEFORE installing brackets on the other end.

Won't the boards warp or sag going too wide with no support in the middle?
@NuvoIronVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hi skeena59, that's why we suggest not going past 48" in length. But sagging all depends on the board material too. The nice thing about this kit is if you are worried about that with the material you are using, you can easily do shorter sections.
@Paul-vn5mi3 ай бұрын
Use pine. Less likely to warp vs pressure treated.

Hi Ted, this is the only size of the kit we have, so the slats will have to be the size mentioned in the video to work best.

What are the dimensions of the slats? Are they 1x4, 1x6?
@theAdmurl4982 жыл бұрын
5/4" x 6"
@conservativecanuck9 ай бұрын
@@theAdmurl498 Are you certain of this? 5/4" means the thickness is 1 and 1/4" thick? They look more like 5/8" or 3/4" at the most. And 6 inches wide? It looks in the video like the posts are 6x6, which in reality are 5.5x5.5" and the brackets don't seem to be longer than the size of the posts. Since the slats fit inside the brackets, I would think the slats are maybe 5.5" or less?

crappy plastics ARE BEING USED IN THIS PRODUCT - PASS
@NuvoIronVideos2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom, we use polyoxymethylene to make our louver system. This material is used frequently in the automotive field for precision parts requiring high stiffness, low friction, and dimensional stability. If you've encountered a quality issue with this product please reach out to clientcare@nuvoiron.com and we can make sure we rectify the issue.

It’s a good solid product. The plastic in this case is probably the best material they can use.
