Like the Mona Lisa's house with recognizable glass pyramid architecture, the Louvre is a place to store and display many famous French and world art collections.
The museum is located in District 1, Paris city, France, on the banks of the Seine. The Louvre Museum was originally a fortress built by King Philippe Auguste in 1190. At the end of the fourteenth century, under Charles V, the Louvre became the royal palace and then continued to expand through dynasties. Since 1672, when the French court moved to Versailles castle, the splendid collection was kept at the Louvre. During the French Revolution, the palace became a museum, opened on August 10, 1793.
