So happy to find this! I bought a hexagon lap weaver from the thrift shop (incredible shape, all the pieces in mint condition) and have been working on it. I've had no trouble following the directions but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to finishing option #5 where you tie the edges. Now I'm on my way to making a Christmas tree skirt. Thanks!

I've had a square loom for at least 10 years. Mine came with hard to follow instructions. I ended up lacing it correctly totally by mistake! I never did understand the tying part at all in my instructions. Thank you so much for this vintage video, so I can make more. I still don't really understand how to make the many different designs. I'm hoping there will be more videos for that

It's a shame you don't show that last finishing option a little better...the 1st time I tried this, I didn't go where all the loops crossed, but to the sides, and subsequently the short loops were missed when I pulled it from the loom.

This is so depressing :/ I do exactly like the video says for the initial lacing of the hexagon loom and my yarn doesn't end up looking anything like what she gets in the video. i can't figure out what I'm doing wrong :/

I had that problem at first too! But she moves the loom fast in the video. What parts are the ones that look off or wrong?

+meenie7 I think I know what wrong. Ok, when you finish the figure eight for the B peg. The corner peg you lace the yarn around it, do not lace a figure eight on it. The next peg is the one where you start your figure eights again. Now, really important, before you restart your figure eights, turn the loom to where the side where the B peg is, is now on top. The 1st peg after the corner you start your figure eights. The peg opposite of your first peg should always make a STRAIGHT figure eight- it should never be diagonal of your peg.

I have made numerous placemats, coasters, and decorative doilys or furniture protectors since the 70's when I first got this loom set. tying the knots is a breeze and much less confusing than crochet stitches. What I would like to find is an adjustable floor stand to hold the looms as I sit on edge of a chair..

I have made innumerable hot mats and placemats over the years. They can be made in any color or combination of colors and are attractive, functional, washable, and durable. I loved crafts as a kid and still do. This craft is easy to learn. A long-gone older friend of my aunt's taught me how to use the medium loom when I was about 12. I'm 65 now. I have been making these for myself and as gifts off and on all these years. I know how to crochet and knit if that's what I want to do. This is another type of yarn craft. I AM getting great value for my yarn dollars and I am sure that all those who have been doing this craft for years would agree.
