It's crazy how it sounds so similar to Positive, yet so different at the same time!

That's not so crazy at all. It's actually very clever from the composer & lyricist to use the same lines and their rhythms again but with a different melody. Especially in the verses. Comparing these two songs is a masterclass in musical theatre songwriting. Both songs are really good. But in order for the tone and spirit to fit the main character and the plot point within the story, the military war theme had to make place for something more "positive". Even though the songs have different titles you could actually make a case that they are both different versions of the same song.

If there is ever a revival they should do a mash up up of this and positive. Like start of with positive an the vivienne ticks them off and the transfer into love and war. It would the beautiful.

I actually think they should do a mashup of this song for the musical; Love and War mixed with Positive. I think it would flow beautifully. And the delta nu girls could be split down the middle with how they think Elle should approach it but they all end up singing the same thing...oof that would be amazing. Or even better...they start off singing positive but as soon as Vivian does something to set them off, they go to Love and War

This song is amazing, but honestly it doesn't belong in the musical. It's too dark and sinister compared to the peppy optimism of "Positive". Plus Elle's character wasn't designed to have an edge to it, she was meant to be sweet and lovable :) But I DO love seeing this side of Elle, it makes her more relatable to many teenage girls, including myself.

I mean, Idk. I find it kinda funny, honestly. It feels angry, but the rudeness doesn't feel genuine in this, it's more of just a person being like "Maybe I should...? No, that'd be rude and unfair, and probably make the situation worse."

I like the fact that in this song Dequina Moore got more of a solo spot in this song. Just like Leslie got huge solo spot in Bend and Snap. And her (Dequina) note/riff in the last "Sure" was amazing.

positive is way better in terms of the musical. its an awesome song for a show like mean girls, where there's not a lot of kindness going, but Elles persona is kind and bubbly and positive emulates Elles essence. overall changing love and war to positive was a great move.

I love when Vivian and Warner "go through" Serena and she looks at herself realizing they didn't stop because "she isn't really there." I think Positive works better for the show; but I wish they had kept Leslie's high note, and of course, the "I'm talking to myself, so what?"

That guitar riff from the junk shaking part fits a lot better with the song "Love and War" than "Positive." I'm guessing that if this song never existed, my favourite guitar riff of all time wouldn't either.

as much as this kind of clashes with every other song in the musical, i like this slightly more than positive. ppl say that positive represents elle better bc of course she’s super positive, but so does love and war. if u think abt it, after warner said he was dating vivian, elle’s world got turned upside down. love and war better shows the chaos in her head. even though the song is more rigid and dark, it still shows elle’s positive side, even with her mind telling her to do something rash. positive DOES fit with all of the songs better, but love and war shows her feelings a lot better id say

I absolutely LOVE that. Leslie Kritzer is so amazing. and I really like Positive, but I feel like this song really brings out the FIERCENESS in each of the girls. they all sound incredible. I also really love DeQuina's placement of "hey, Warner, pleeeeease" at 2:00.

I do love this song but I can see why they replaced it... It's so much darker ten positive, which isn't always a bad thing but it doesn't really fit the show itself which does have a very light air about it. I don't know, it kind of reminded me of something evil.

Agreed; the song 'Positive' fits the Broadway version of the character much better. They were looking for something 'feel good' and it definitely fits the bill. But who can't love a line like 'ninja kick her through a door', eh. :D Or the way whatsername, Margot? Hits that high note. Awesome.

This song is so much better (pun intended) than Positive in my opinion. I get that Positive fits in with the musical and Elle more but Love and War is just so good, I would rather it. Also the LAW (Love And War) Easter egg is a nice touch. I’ve been trying to look for a Love And War soundtrack audio but I can’t find it. Too bad

No, on the soundtrack the roles of Pilar & Serena are played by Dequina Moore & Leslie Kritzer (OBC & the ones in this video) - on the MTV broadcast those roles were played by Asameret Ghebremichael and Traci Jai Edwards who are both currently playing those roles on Broadway.

Well, they changed alot of things from previews to Broadway. For example, when they weren't in the Greek Chorus, all of the Delta Nus were in different shades of Blue. Elle was the only one in Pink or anything besides blue. They also had a Brooke wearing shorts instead of pants durring Whipped into Shape, I believe. This song wasn't the only thing they changed! :P
