I feel like William purposely made Clara take care of the situation. At the end when Clara takes Elizabeth away, both William and Michael are smiling. William knows how bad Elizabeth is, but just doesn't have what it takes to yell at her or correct her because he loves her so much! But Clara kn the over-hand, has no problem doing it.
