Theme song from the movie with Michael Landon and Laura Gemser (aka Comeback / Operation Comeback / Liebe ist unendlich / Amor sin fronteras / Ritorno dall'inferno / Les évadés du triangle d'or ).
A wonderful love song composed by Lee Holdridge, an incredible melodist ("East of Eden", "Heidi" (1993 version with Jason Robards) and a very kind and generous man. Against all logic, this song exists on no support, cannot even be heard properly on the dvds released until now (very poor sound quality).
The movie is based on an incredible true story that happened in Laos at the end of the 70's.

I always wondered why this song was never released as a single or on an album. It's a beautiful song and among Laura Branigan's best. I watched the movie years ago and remembered it well because of the song at the end. I copied it from the 1983 movie soundtrack and created an MP3 version of it including a little bit of dialogue from the movie. It is finally available on KZbin. It should have been released years ago. Just love this song.

ich suchte dieses beste Lied der 80er Jahre ewig; es wurde unbegreiflicher Weise erst 2013 veröffentlich. Der Film lief im TV unter dem deutschen Titel "In den dunklen Fluten des Mekong". Im Film ist auch zu sehen, das Laura Branigan singt.

Where did you find this? I've been searching for over 10 years for this song. I love all of Laura's songs and this one is a rare beautiful song. I went through all her albums, where she appeared on a soundtrack, but could never find "Love is Forever". Very curious to know where you found it. Thank you for posting.

Thank you for your nice comment. In fact I wrote a mail to composer Lee Holdridge to ask him if there was a possibility to buy from him a copy of the song and he very kindly sent me an mp3 version of the tape he still had in stock. I asked again how I could pay him and he never wanted. That's why I wrote in the text introduction that he's a very generous man : he took some time to ask a friend to make an mp3 copy of the song and then sent it to a total stranger (me) for nothing. I've waited sometime before posting it on youtube because I thought he would react on his own masterpiece after having relistened to that famous tape and then put it for download on amazon, but no : nothing. I think he's not aware he was a genius on composing this song (lol). Like you, what always surprised me is why no Laura Branigan's cd contains this song, I'm sure she has some relatives who took care of some best of cds since she passed away and I can't believe that no one thought about including this song. Especially now that you see how easy it was to get it. If it's interesting you, a german dvd producer released the only watchable worldwide edition of the movie under the title "Operation Comeback". It's an excellent vhs quality with good sound too even for the english version. I was amazed after having bought all the possible trash versions released through the years all over the world.

mophfr Hello mophr, I agree with you about Lee Holdridge: He is a kind and fantastic composer. As to your question about why the quality of this film looks so bad nowadays, along with all the rights’ problems concerning the music: I fear that it’s because producer/director Hall Bartlett most likely owned the rights to this film himself (Holdridge previously worked with him on “Jonathan Livingston Seagull”), and that after Bartlett died, his estate became overwhelmed, and has not done the best job preserving his work in the 21st century.
