I keep thinking of that Helen Keller movie, where shes a child running around, deaf, mute & blind. Shes grabbing at things, causing chaos, distressed because she doesnt understand whats going on & has had no training. Then theres that critical scene when her teacher holds her hand under running water and signs to her, over and over and over, the sign for water. She resists, but then comes this moment: the dawn of understanding. Her whole life changes after that. I feel this is happening in my life..

He may be enlightened , in my opinion. Having said that , I believe Krishnamurti-Ramana Maharishi were too . But could they teach? Not as far as I am concerned. Krishnamurti blathered on about “ there are no methods for enlightenment “. Yes there are . --Ramana ( very similar to Rupert ) said ask “who or what am I” . And that was about it , as far as I can see. The first 8 minutes of Rupert’s video says , entertain the possibility that all people are connected as one . Through our common state of awareness . Okay. Then what? It’s like the old phrases “ just be here now” “ live in the present”. “Be centred”. “ you’re perfect as you are , just be”. As far as I can see ,we don’t intellectually need to be convinced of any of these great truths . We will experience these truths for ourselves, using meditation methods that lead us there. So what does comparative religion/mysticism teach us ? 1. Shut off the internal dialogue by dividing our attention ( eyes closed sitting) concentrating on our breath/solar plexus movement , global awareness of the body . Buddhist- Hindu --Islam -Christian - all have different methods to increase our concentration and to shut off the internal chatter that we all have . Having achieved some degree of success meditating, the next step is active meditation while walking down the road /or whatever. This long slow process , inevitably leads to awareness in the present moment, and , as I understand it, leads to nirvana, reuniting the God within , with the all pervading God -- But what’s the point of positing it intellectually. We need personal verification , not through some intellectual reasoning. That means methods for most of us mortals . Krishnamurti probably reached the threshold of enlightenment at the end of his previous life , so in this life, the steps needed were minimal. Rupert seems to be a very nice man to me. But can he communicate how to get us to experience these great truths, compared to ,say,Salim Michael , in his book “ The way of inner vigilance”,a booked packed with different meditation methods. There are many different paths , I Know , but please can we minimise the blather. Mine is only one view , of course; So feel free to drag me over the coals ( I think that’s the phrase) best wishes and merry Christmas to you all out there( and of course , Rupert)-----Ray
@raysainsbury17 жыл бұрын
Dear “break the chain “, I very much identify with your comments .I used to go to Krishnamurti’s talks in brockwood park ,at his country house In Hampshire once a year, when he was alive .I read most of his books and his biography. He seemed to me to be enlightened,and to hear him speak was special, as it is with Rupert . At the time I was of the opinion , that as he was enlightened , there must be some explanation that I just wasn’t getting . After all ,he’s enlightened and I’m not . I slowly came of the opinion that many mystics ( although enlightened) , did not have the ability to communicate the essential features to help people move forward in any meaningful way . Which brings me to the point that “Form less” makes . I don’t recognise the spiritual one -upmanship that your referring to. Trying to catch the bigger rabbit which you refer to , is not for purposes of “ my gurus better than yours - so there- “ . It can be answered with the question you posit- “what do we really want”. Well , what I want is to listen and learn from people I may not agree with,on first hearing.To listen openly , without prejudice. I think the religious / mystic path is a subject of incredible importance, and therefore discussing methods to reach enlightenment, can be very valuable. It’s fine from my point of view that many find Rupert , Krishnamurti, Ramana and others ,fulfilling and satisfying . I’m only saying from my perspective- which may or may not be right , that I have come across one or two people who do the job so much better for those that are really serious about the subject. No doubt you still think this is one upmanship on my part . I’ve thought about that ,and that is really not my motivation. It is to exchange views about the subject with people that really care, and can help me , and others . So feel free to float off in to the ionosphere “ form less” one . ( don’t be offended- that’s a joke ) . Cheers all.

There is no you.
@raysainsbury17 жыл бұрын
Hello ABPLUS5, When you say there is no “you”, would you mind describing in detail what you mean please?
@abplusfive7 жыл бұрын
Hi RAYSAINSBURY1 - I'll try. Most likely I'll be paraphrasing the likes of Rupert, Mooji, Eckhart Tolle, and my favorite author Vernon Howard. Admittedly my use of the word "you" was a generalization and could be misleading without explanation. What I mean is more on the psychological/spiritual level there is no separate "me" or separate "you". There is no "separate self" that exists apart from (or outside of) the whole of reality. Yes, we have separate bodies, thoughts, feelings, and experiences. But I am not my body, not my thoughts, not my feelings, not my past experiences. It is more accurate to say I am the awareness that is aware of my body, thoughts, feelings, experiences. Likewise you are the awareness of your different body, thoughts, feelings, experiences. So however many billions of different human beings there are with different bodies, thoughts . . . We share in common this state of awareness. Consider also the energy that animates human beings. The energy that moves my arm or projects my voice is the same energy that moves you and enables your speech. That energy comes from the same source and eventually that animating energy will be withdrawn from my body and from your body. But since I am not my body, but the awareness of my body, I can "watch" as the animating process changes and the energy is withdrawn. Eckhart Tolle has one of the best metaphors for understanding all this that I have run across. He likens human beings to waves on the ocean. Out of the ocean, a wave is born. It comes into existence, grows bigger, travels a particular path, eventually loses energy, and disappears back into the ocean. You can say the wave had an individual existence apart and different from all the other waves, but at no time were any of the waves separate from the ocean. And never, in essence, separate from each other. Now suppose we give these waves egos. So that each wave mistakenly thinks it is separate from the other waves. And even thinks it is separate from the ocean itself. In this misguided, limited, and ego-centric belief, it looks out across the ocean and sees the other waves as separate. And also, the ego-wave loses sight of the fact that it, itself, is connected to the ocean. It has a very limited understanding of what real life is all about. Its egotism has confined its life to the time span between its emergence (birth) as a wave and its dissolution back into the ocean (death). It has no awareness of its eternal and infinite essence as the ocean which it has never been apart from except in its deluded thinking. So when I say there is no "you" or no "me", I mean there is no separate self apart from the whole of reality. And true love is the living realization that none of us are separate from each other. Love is not an emotion. Love is this high level of understanding lived by an individual who has allowed the ocean to extinguish his belief in existence as a separate wave. Ray - I just read the rest of your original comment again and, yes, you are so right. Mere intellectualizing about these ideas is not the answer. Which is why I was drawn to Vernon Howard because he had a no nonsense approach to applying these ideas to daily life to end problems and understand negativity out of existence. He defined meditation as moment by moment awareness which one could "practice" throughout the day in any situation. And he advocated using the two tools of 1) inner impartial self-observation and 2) self-honesty as the practical way to move from just having a human/worldly nature to the development of a higher heavenly spiritual nature. He never said it was easy because there are lots of pitfalls along the path, but he was always encouraging because it is absolutely possible. It is why we are here.

My perspective: The teachings of most “Enlightenment” beings, will fall on deaf ears, or be misinterpreted. But there may be one or some who is or are ready or interested or searching or in need of, etc... that the teaching may reach or resonate with, or guide to the their next level. At any rate, it seems to be the calling once you reach “A” level, to share and reach back and help others. I’m thankful for it.

I wonder at times if there an example where consciousness is not compared to a solid /matter substance such as a screen. With the limited imagination of the mind I keep imagining it as something solid being there and the stories disappearing and appearing on it to form movies. Consciousness _ being awareness and bliss, is also blank, a No Thing, non tactile in nature ( for lack of a better word) as far as I understand. How to imagine IT as that ...plus the movies appearing and disappearing on it... simultaneously? I sound so complicated, don't I? I don't know how else to articulate this.

Dear abplus5, I LOVE your answer, I agree with ,and believe ,everything you have said to be correct ,to my understanding . The “ ocean” of intelligent creative awareness ,which I understand to be God ( a difficult word to use ,because of the associated qualities different religions attribute to God). And each human being has at there core , this creative force within them .A piece of the ocean , or a wave as you say . Each of us separated from this ocean ,by our fascination for the outside world , filling our mind and conscious awareness with the everyday pleasures and problems of everyday existence. So who can reunite with this creative force that permeates the universe, and how ?. And what benefits does it bring? Well ,people who can unite with this ocean , I believe,are mystics . I believe when mystics refer to Nirvana or Samadhi, or any other name they choose to give it, is this reuniting with the ocean, their source , their origin . And when we die , it’s that, with which we reunite. I came to the conclusion , from the readings of contemporary mystics of different religions, that very very few people can do this spontaneously- with just an idea or profound thought imparted . The vast majority of people who try , get there by hard work , and nothing less. And that means active and passive meditation every day , to expand our consciousness, increase our levels of concentration,and to live our life according to the requirements. Abplus5, I have not heard of Vernon Howard , but will google him , as I’m always interested what others have to say about this most important subject, and you have explained very well ,what it requires to make progress. My own meditation methods that I use , are from mainly two sources . Salim Michael who wrote “The way of Inner vigilance “and a book by Robert Burton called “Self Remembering “. I’d be interested to know who ABPLUS 4 is and ABPLUS 6 are ? (That’s meant to be a joke) Are they your mum and dad- siblings perhaps ? Great talking to you ABPLUS5. Milica , Live your désires and all your human activites as the expression of the infinite consciousness, no more from the perspective of the ego, offer all your activités, feelings whatever they are so called positiv or so called négative, to the infinite who’s experiencing, all will be then , a celebration, a curiosity, that’s why the infinite becomes finite : to live expériences, to know itself as finite, so play the game of life and don’t try to Be perfect, but live your life as a child who descovers everything. Nothing will change apparently but now you remember you are infinite playing the finite game, and you’ll see all other people around you living theire lives as forgotten, « ignorants », that’s ok This is also the game to forget, everything is perfect, 😊 Just change the point of view, the perspective from where you live and act, be an experiencer in your daily activities. So don’t try to force anything, live life as it is. You forget and then, you remember and you forget again... that’s fine! Don’t try to be established all the time in the infinite otherwise you’ll fight and be desapointed: This is the seperate self, and even that, when it happends and you finally see you were fighting : it’s ok, that’s the experience of fighting: love includes everything inconditionally😊 With great pleasure, and with Love Milica ♥️♥️😘

What if love is not consciousness. What if love is a sacred exchange of energy between two or more conscious souls. What if love cannot be experienced by the One except through the awareness of at least two. You need an anode and a cathode for energy to flow. A single anode alone won't work. It is not all about completely immersing one's soul, one's entire being in effulgence?
@georgewahl24987 жыл бұрын
Om Tapasvi Is it not the flow of love which collapses that which separates? Does it not arc between two as activity prompted by an aware being who has the potential to love consciously and one who is lost in the body/mind? I can think/feel "I love" without interaction with limited outcome unless it is efflugent or I can consciously assign an expression of the energy of love to the body/mind through an act of compassion. Does not the realized quiet body/mind eventually become the servant of the conscious soul?
@JustinTweed7 жыл бұрын
It seems like there's a lot of ideas or dualities. This is asking a question which refers to cause and effect which consciousness is beyond time so it can't be. Love is the experience of union. If not then what is the opposite? Separation which is where all of societies mind states are at and look at how that love is. Love doesn't need other. Love is like life is.

One alone, without any reference to any more, cannot be excellent; for in such case, there can be no manner of relation no way, and therefore no such thing as Consent. Indeed, what we call One , may be excellent be- cause of a consent of parts, or some consent of those in that being, that are -- -- distinguished into a plurality some way or other. But in a being that is absolutely without any plurality, there cannot be Excellency, for there can be no such thing as consent or agreement.... When we speak of Being in general, we may be understood of the Divine Being, for he is an Infinite Being: therefore all others must neces- sarily be considered as nothing. As to Bodies , we have shown in another place, that they have no proper Being of their own. And as to Spirits , they are the communications of the Great Original Spirit; and doubtless, in metaphysical strictness and propriety, He is, as there is none else. He is likewise infinitely Excellent, and all Excellence and Beauty is derived from him, in the same manner as all Being. And all other Excellence, is, in strictness only, a shadow of his. 85 We proceed, therefore, to shew how all spiritual excellence is resolved into love. 9. As to God's Excellence, it is evident it consists in the Love of him- self; for he was as excellent, before he created the Universe, as he is now. But if the Excellence of Spirits consists in their disposition and action, God could be excellent no other way at that time; for all the exertions of -- -- himself were towards himself. But he exerts himself towards himself, no other way, than in infinitely loving and delighting in himself; in the mu- tual love of the Father and the Son. This makes the Third, the Person- al Holy Spirit, or the Holiness of God, which is his Infinite Beauty; and this is God's Infinite Consent to Being in general. And his love to the creature is his Excellence, or the communication of Himself, his com- placency in them, according as they partake of more or less of Excellence and beauty; that is, of holiness, (which consists in love;) that is according as he communicates more or less of his Holy Spirit. Can we be more than just aware of true being. How do you know it's all one? Sorry selflessness is something reality is still trying to teach me so I am drawn to thinking there is multiple screens. Because you are less selfish you feel there is one screen. But can this really be known. Either way if it's either way would that make a difference really? It really feels like you are saying the screen can see its self so more than just being aware. I have really been under the impression that the eye can not see its self but it knows it exists because it's seeing.

OK. Let me see if I can clearly state the fundamental mistake human beings make. Because we have thoughts, we jump to the conclusion that there is a "thinker" - a thinker of those thoughts. Likewise if my body is walking down the street, I assume there is a "walker". If I am eating, I assume there is an eater. If writing, a writer. For everything "I" do, think, and feel I assume there is a "self". In other words we create a "self". But truly in reality there is no such "self". The "self" my mind creates is just another thought. It is an artificial creation of the mind that we identify with. In other words, there is just thinking (no thinker), walking, eating, writing, doing, feeling (no feeler) BUT simultaneously, there is AWARENESS (which is not a "self" nor is it thinking) of all this happening. (Which brings us back to meditation as moment by moment awareness.) This thought-self, ego-self, false-self (there are many terms pointing to this illusory self) will struggle with these ideas because it fears for its extinguishment. It fears non-existence ... which is pretty funny since it doesn't really exist anyway. We have been tricked. Only our ignorance of higher facts has given the false-self life. Much like a mirage, when you get up close to it you see it was not what it appeared to be. Since AWARENESS is stronger than thought, it can perceive the mistakes of the mind and eventually correct wrong thinking. My mistaken beliefs, faulty assumptions, and unnecessary identifications can be seen through. This changes me which changes everything. I am not trying to be obscure. I am trying to be clear and helpful. And I am having fun. "The search for truth is really a lot of good fun." ~ Vernon Howard. Additionally, a "body-mind" with a memory of experiences and the label ABPLUS5 has replied to "you". Memories happen, but they don't create an "experiencer". There is awareness of memories, they happened, and my mind wants to say they happened to "me". But there is no me, just the past experience. Just as in the present moment there is just experiencing, no experiencer. Who you think you are is just a bunch of thoughts, not a self.

Bp Rijal I would say yes, without any doubt. In one video he was speaking how he was mistaking who he is with the thoughts and feelings.

Makes no sense!!! There is no such thing called love, its created by Shakespeare. Not practical in every situations. Pure being, conciousness is now a days used often but no one is able to explain in clear terms. This is my personal opinion as i do not mean to sound disrespectful towards anyone.Human being is a bundle of exteriences since the time of birth. Its impossible to exist as ' being' which is n9thing but an empty shell thats created by the union of our parents.
