Love is the Answer - John Ford Coley Concert

The recent calamities that struck Compostela Valley, Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur can be best described as catastrophic in scale. The natural sceneries that one saw on a drive along its coastal and inland areas are now grim reminders of what climate change has brought. The once productive lands planted to coconuts and bananas are now left as a wasteland. Restoring them will take time while the communities will have to find means to survive. It is no longer a valid claim of people here in Mindanao that the island is typhoon free. It is also not enough to replant trees or attend seminars on climate change mitigation to increase awareness of the impact changes on weather patterns. A deeper effort must be pursued among communities and government as well as other stakeholders to work together in a closely knit manner. The concert for a cause headlined by John Ford Coley is a step in the right direction in continuing the assistance to the typhoon victims in Compostela Valley and Davao del Norte. Freedom Inc. was one of the sponsors for the concert along with other organisations who continue to to support the displaced communities in these provinces.
