Love this “sit down”! I’ve always thought Juliette Lewis is a terrific natural actor and seeing her outside of acting she’s so down to earth and fascinating - just super cool. Side note, I loved that she takes in the presence of nature during the podcast and I thought “she’s like a real life faerie”…then she said it later as a joke that she “communes with faeries”!

I adore ADORE Juliette , I feel bad because when I was drinking once I was upset that she was into “Scientology “ and I said “ it’s tragic that you let Scientology think for you” and she responded with ..“ I think for myself “ … truth be told I was just being sad about the cult bc she is iconic .. Natalie was one of my favorite characters in Yellowjackets, every film she’s been in has been amazing .. she’s a legend ..the spitfire prodigy remix was incredible .. she’s iconic #julietteandthelicks
@jillibear84199 ай бұрын
I didn't realize that she was a scientologist, that is disappointing for me. But I still love her acting and it doesn't change how I feel about her. However, it is absolutely a cult, any "religion" that tells you to separate from your family/friends because they don't agree with it, is definitely a cult. I find it hard to believe that anyone who belongs to a cult actually thinks for themselves, at least not completely. Unfortunately, there has to be at least some aspects where they don't. They likely feel like they think for themselves, especially because there is always the option to leave it, and you choose to be a part of it (unless born into it, although certain members,the sea org members, aren't allowed to even have children) but even though you have the choice, if you choose to leave the "religion" they will label you an "SP"or "Suppressive Person" and if your family or friends are in the cult, I mean religion, they'll no longer be able to have a relationship or any contact with you. I've watched several deep dives into scientology and have watched Aaron's growing up in scientology" KZbin channel and have a very good understanding of it. "I'm a fan of Elizabeth Moss as well , who is the main character in the handmaid's tale, and found out she is also a scientologist... The irony of her character in the handmaid's tale fighting for freedom against a Suppressive government and her being in a real life, suppressive in ways(especially the sea org), cult, kinda ruined the show for me. Since the character she plays , although much much more extreme, Is fighting against some of the ways the real life cult she is part of, actually is in real life, like in the show they control the handmaid's and use them to have children, similar,but opposite, of how the scientology sea org members are controlled because they're not allowed to have children, if they do get pregnant they can have an ab0rtion or choose to leave scientology, which as a sea org member is not easy whatsoever and ive heard personal accounts of people having to literally escape by running and hiding. I'm pretty sure that both actresses were born into it though, and when people are born into something and raised that way in their family, it's all they know and is completely normal to them. so I tend to sympathize with them more than someone who joins as an adult and has not been raised with it as their normal.
@loveistheauthor9 ай бұрын
She says she left Scientology in 2016, just for the record. That's why I didn't bring it up, and why we talked at points about her newfound spirituality. I gave her the mala beads as a token of her moving into a new life w spirituality. She sought me out to have this conversation to talk about where she's at now, spiritually speaking. 🪷📿

@@loveistheauthor That's fantastic, good for her 👏 😊. I obviously commented before getting to that part of the conversation, in fact, I only got a min or two in and saw this comment and felt compelled to respond to it. It also made me think back when my Da and I would cruise Woodward Ave in Detroit when I was a kid. • ❤️ The Beatles - She's so heavy. • ❤️ Hendrix - Voodoo Child. 11/27 also my birthday ( I'm 60 ) • to be "in flow" being present. • Melancholia, drama and sorrow. past self as well. • No kiddos • having a MORE disciplined morning practice. • I love owls 🦉 • The rainbow connection! From one dirty skirt to another. What a fabulous pod cast. Id love to garden and birdwatch with you guys. I did land aesthetics at Buddhist spot in Trout Creek NY. So spiritual to hear nothing but your thoughts. I would run the perimeter with a whisk broom and chimes. For bugs and bears and bobcats.. blessings and wisdom eternal. Dirtbags forever my girl!!!🎉
