Beggars Banquet is the start of one of, if not, the best string of consecutive albums by any band in Rock and Roll history IMO. If you love the vibe of this track then you really need to check out Love in Vain, and I would highly recommend the live version (bonus track) off of the remastered Sticky Fingers album. You get your soulful blues with some powerful Jagger vocals, and a couple of the best Mick Taylor guitar leads found in any Stones song. Promise, you both will love it!

This is from 1968, the Beggar's Banquet album. They say this is one of the last songs their original second guitarist Brian Jones made a really substantial contribution to. That's him playing the slide guitar that adds so much to the tune. The piano is by the late, great Nicky Hopkins. Nicky was never a full member of the band, but he added his distinct piano to all their albums from Satanic Majesties to Exile On Main Street.

The cover of the album "Begger's Banguet" is if a toilet stahl, yellow painted Wass, with graffiti. The US release, or some other used a white invitation card "Begger's Banquet". The interior photo showed the Stones wearing like clothing from the Renaissance, eating at a big table, and drunk. BB's is one of the greatest albums by The Rolling Stones!

I was wondering if it was Brian Jones playing slide on this song. Here's what I found out: Jagger said in a 1995 interview in Rolling Stone, "That's Brian playing [the slide guitar]. We were sitting around in a circle on the floor, singing and playing, recording with open mikes. That was the last time I remember Brian really being totally involved in something that was really worth doing". His playing is so spot on, just like all the varied enhancements Brian made on so many of the Stones songs, like the sitar on "Paint It Black", the recorder on "Ruby Tuesday", marimba on "Under My Thumb", and of course his slide playing on "Little Red Rooster", all amazing additons to the color pallate of these songs and more.

1968 -The Stones were about to replace Brian, guitar and other instruments, who was addled by drugs. Brian did play on this track but wasn't able to do much on many of these sessions. Hello Squad! Been watching and enjoying your reactions for at least 2 years now (maybe longer) and really enjoy your opinions. The Stones are my songwriting idols. They conjure emotions (especially the darker/sadder ones) better than anyone else I've ever heard. Keith created a sound of ragged, seemingly untutored, guitars (the opposite being the actual truth.., Keith can PLAY!!!). And the rest of the band loved it and embraced it. No one else sounds like them. Fantastic writing, fantastic playing and, always, with deep soul. More Stones please!

It was musical and historical all at the same time. Spectacular was the only word I could use to describe their 2024 show sixty years after they first started. Staggering achievement. The Beatles are frozen in time and while leaving an incredible legacy I think it is a lot harder to stay a band 60 years and still pack stadiums when you are 81 like Mick and Keith.

@heathinvaderstudios3 ай бұрын
This was the last Rolling Stones song founder and guitarist Brian Jones really participated in willingly. That’s him playing the resonator guitar with a slide, while Keith Richards is playing rhythm on his acoustic guitar. Thanks to his heavy drug use, and creative differences becoming apparent between himself and the rest of the band, he was becoming less and less involved with the band’s music. They had to fire him and replace him with guitarist Mick Taylor. Sadly, Brian died sometime after that. He was found dead on the backyard pool of his house, which oddly enough, was the same house author A.A. Milne (of Winnie-the-Pooh fame) raised his son Christopher Robin Milne, and wrote his four Pooh books.

The stones were really laid back and bluesy on this. A well crafted song for a dobro played with a slide. Get to know Nicky Hopkins. I think he was the best English session pianists of the 60s and 70s and he played on a lot of Stones records.Maybe you can put a call out for suggestions on records Hopkins played on....there are a lot of great ones. On Beggars Banquet. Brian Jones was in his last days with the band and often was a no-show or on drugs or what-have-you. Nicky Hopkins played a major major role on that LP filling in the spaces Brian left....though not here where Brian's on that dobro.

The record company released it with a different cover before the original was restored, much like the Blind Faith album. The Stones started as a blues band. I like your vids and your compassion for the Stones. I've been a fan since 1964. What I want to oppose to is the excessive tributes to Mick Jagger. You seem to forget that there were 4 other members of this band that contributed to his abilities to deliver the vocals in his manner. I don't say he's bad but without Bills bass, Keiths accoustic guitar and the drums. Stones are an tight entity! While I'm on it here comes a couple of requests from the latest Stones album "Hackney Diamonds". The songs I would like you to rewiev are "Depending on you" and / or "Driving me too hard" and / or " Whole wide world". Would be nice to hear your comments on one of these songs!
