I studied abroad to focus on playing soccer but after doing so, I really missed Korea. In over 50 auditions, what song did you sing the most? · From what I remember, I sang 2AM’s ‘This Song’ (이 노래). I didn’t really sing any dance songs, I leaned almost entirely towards ballads. Is there an item, artist, or song that you’re interested in? · Recently... an artist... in our studio I listened to an LP by Chet Baker. It’s an LP that we play a lot. But honestly, recently I’ve only been listening to old songs. First of all, I really like Shin Seung Hun’s songs. (*born in 1996) [T/N: Shin Seung Hun debuted in the 90’s, so his songs aren’t that old] If we’re talking about an item that I’m interested in...recently I’m really into accessories. Originally I really liked shoes, but nowadays I’m also interested in things I can accessorize with, like (keychains) (necklaces) (bracelets). I’m gaining interest in things like that little by little. (Ah !!) I’m also looking at furniture and interior design. Is there a [design] concept you want to pursue? · There are many (that I want to try)! There are a lot of concepts, but first I want to try a super antiquely decorated concept. What is the title track of your first mini album that was just released? · The title track of this album is a song called ‘Love Me Harder’ (파랗게). [T/N: the title literally translates to “blue-ly” or “in a blue way,” which will be important in a moment] When most people think of “love” or hearts, red is the color that comes to mind first, right? [In this song, the idea is that] Our love is different. Our love is blue. So, we should make each other more blue [T/N: As in, “Intensify the shade of blue, making it deeper as our love also grows deeper”]. It’s a song with this kind of contents! There is a special part of this song-well, it’s not really special... (?) but it could be special, right? (???) But there’s a whistling part in the song. Should I whistle?? I did the whistling, but I actually can’t whistle well lol (Challenge) I’ll try it once! *whistles ‘Love Me Harder’ intro* This kind of whistling is in the song. What’s a thing or place that inspires you? · I think that I am inspired a lot by nature. Just in day-to-day life! I think I’ve gotten the most inspiration from going to the beach. Other examples are books...(actually I don’t really read lol), but like manhwa [T/N: Korean comics/webtoons] and movies. What are some investments you’re making now for the sake of your future self? · Honestly, I think that everything I’ve been doing recently has been time that I’ve invested in myself. I have things that I want to do and dreams that I want to fulfill, so I think that by continuing to work hard in order to realize those goals I am investing in myself.
