We watch LOVE SIMON (2018) for the FIRST TIME!
------------------------------------
Movie Summary:
Everyone deserves a great love story, but for 17-year-old Simon Spier, it's a little more complicated. He hasn't told his family or friends that he's gay, and he doesn't know the identity of the anonymous classmate that he's fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.

29:32 I feel like the dad’s reaction is how most dad’s reaction would be , even the ones who are supportive of the gay community . They’ll be supportive, but its still a huge shock because for a decade and a half they thought he was straight . But man if I was gay , that would be the last way I would want to come out . Like it’s supposed to be their moment

I told both parents at once. My mother was the hard one (understatement). Her first comment, "How do you know you're gay?" At the point she thought the conversation was over, she concluded , "You're not gay, you're just confused." She also had her solution to all my problems- I needed to go to law school. "My so just severed an artery. Quick! Get him to a law school!" 18:34 This was one of the first times I exploded and yelled at this tiny woman who was more pitbull than anything 18:34 . She never accepted it and refused to talk about, figuring I would get over it and find some nice girl. Once, I brought the topic of Hitler and how he murdered gay people. She said, "Hitler was gay. Wow. I'm Adolph Hitler.

Both the mom scene with Jennifer garner and the scene when the dad finally talks to him played by josh duhamel always gets to me so much Jennifer garner is definitely top 5 actresses I love her in miracle from heaven also love Drew starkey in this he plays Garrett his in outer banks as rafe he was the guy who announced the party and was singing at karaoke and the best friend played by Katherine Langford is awesome she played Leah and she plays Hannah baker in 13RW so does the guy who plays Kyle he plays Alex in 13 reasons why his name is miles heizer an the guy who plays Martin played by Logan miller plays in one of my favorite zombie movies scouts guide to the zombie apocalypse but he also played in escape room so basically this whole cast is incredible

i´m gay and this movie gets me everytime. it is so close to my coming out story without the blackmailing, but the feelings you have and the constant talks to other guys about girls and the fear that they might notice. it´s just so horrible. Also i had a female best friend who had feelings for me and everyone always made jokes we were dating, it was so hurtful. thank you for your reaction ^.^

as a trans women its alot harder to be who u felt inside that u are yea i came out as gay when i was a boy and yea i was teased alot t nothing compared with being transgender living in this f up society! we get misgendered bullied not only by the students but teachers as well misgendering us constantly! but now that i fully traditioned i feel more like myself then i always been hating my self since i was a child i was never comfortable in my own skin i had suicidal thoughts even when i started transitioning i never felt enough ! i didn’t feel woman enough i never felt like i will find a man who is interested in me ! but im glad i continued to transition and now people cant even tell im trans ,when i tell guys they are shocked and they don’t believe im trans lol and im glad people are becoming more open minded but it sucks dealing with hate even my dad doesn’t support me he threatened to hit me if i dressed as a woman , im glad he lives in puerto rico we are hours miles apart but i get discrimination from my own blood but im thankful for my supportive mom and brother and sister and my grandparents! i recently lost my great grandma she was so full of life and she accepted me for me instantly

Destiny … you be who tf you want to be you hear me? 🙏🏼 We all get one life. You live it for you! I’m on here pouring my heart out to people who don’t me know me, I lose sleep daily to get videos out, I talk about things that hurt me the most in my life .. and I encourage people all the time to be happy. Some people still don’t like me. Being accepted by others isn’t always guaranteed upfront. But you accepting yourself is the most important part. Keep ya head up homie 🙏🏼 Lost my grandmother last year too.. I’m still not okay, but we try !

the mums line of "you can exhale now simon" gets me every time. i think the message of the movie is simply don't be a shitty person. celebrate people for who they are. encourage them, be their friend, stand up for them. if you're in the friends situation in this movie - the sexuality of your friend whether or not you knew it before, doesn't change the person you've known. you've always still known the same person - nothing has changed. i hate the terms like "tolerance" and "acceptance" because they imply that something is wrong with the person and despite that you'll "put up with them." it kind of means there's a negative factor to them which you're willing to look past. i think this movie was just really well done. it had a good mixture of comedy, realness, touching scenes (especially with simon's mother). i just hate the fact that young adults go through school and still get bullied in 2024 for their sexuality. i hope in the future that no person ever has to go through being bullied or ridiculed and if they do - that everyone else stands up to those people and shuts them down. the cafeteria scene - even though the act was horrible, the teacher ripping into them was just great. sure, teachers have their hands tied a bit more these days and can't get away with what they used to - but it's important that educators stick up for vulnerable students. great reaction guys! really enjoyed watching with you!

What makes everything so much worse about Martin is that he says “you’ll be interested to know my brother is gay”. He blackmails someone by using their sexuality while his own brother has dealt with the same struggle as who he’s blackmailing. So gross. And Jennifer Garner’s delivery of “You get to exhale now, Simon”…chefs kiss. She was perfect for this role.

The guessing of who it could be, is kind of like dating. Trying to figure out who I might have a chance with really sucks. Because it's not just getting rejected . It's also usually accompanied by Anger . Especially with the political culture war happening. This region has no gay bars so .... guessing it is!

I completely and unconditionally love this movie the only thing I wish would change was at the end when Simon and blue kissed everyone would have walked away and just let them be in their own bubble cause that was a Intimate moment for them and everyone just staring like danggg turn away at least he showed up that’s all y’all need to know after that everyone should have left and enjoyed the fair but that’s just my opinion

u just got an new subscriber!! 31:58 i can relate to this so much so i’m gay and i told my older sister because i told her EVERYTHING I MEAN EVERYTHING. we always played barbie dolls AND EVERYTHING WITH EACHOTHER!!! so one day i told her i was gay and i told her not to tell anybody cus my family would say something like “he so fruity” like what the dad said in that one scene. so i only told my sister cus i trusted her.. few months past me and my mom and my two older brothers and my sister we are hanging out and my brothers pick on me saying “are u gay” and my mother says “i will support u no matter what” and i still deny it bc i wasn’t ready.. so my sister was beside me and she was like “you should just tell them already” like i told her for a reason AND I TOLD HER NOT TO TELL ANYBODY and after that it was kinda awkward n my brothers kept looking at me weird and stuff but AYYYY LOOK AT ME NOW !! i can talk to my mom about boys and stuff !! (i’m still mad at my sister, i dont tell her noting anymore)

I didn't believe the Mom character. Sorry, that was NOT my mother, who was part pitbull. Some of the scenes were so powerful, like when he's panicking and stuttering when he's terrified of being outed. Also, the drop-dead fancy neighborhood he lived in? Later, the scene in the cafeteria when the two students were mocking Simon and the other gay man. He remains stone face on the outside, while he is crashing and dying internally.

Love victor is a lot better. Love Simon is the most sanitized, toned down, made for straights gay film I’ve seen. It doesn’t take any real risks, it’s very safe and basic. And the kiss at the end looks so uncomfortable, nobody is clearly invested in it. Love victors a lot better
