Did you calibrate the Tamiya ESC? If the endpoints (full forward, neutral, full reverse) weren't set correctly it explains the speed difference. I have been dissapointed with the speed of an RC car after upgrading the motor/esc. When I arrived home all dissapointed I forgot to calibrate the ESC. Did that and that made quite the difference. The Arrma ESC looks like a Hobbywing 1060 which calibrates itself. I have a Carson Launcher 19x2T in my DT-03 (and DT-02). The TBLE-2S that came with mine can handle it just fine and it makes it a lot faster (the motor gets hot, not the ESC). A budget upgrade. :)
