When I was 16 I became pregnant. My boyfriend was super supportive about keeping the baby. We moved in an apartment and had a nice little family. When we were 18 we were gonna get married. The day of our wedding he took off. No one knew where he was for 6 months until he showed up. He said he regretted everything and he wanted to go back to how we were. I told him no and he could take our son every 1 out of 3 weeks. He agreed. He got a girlfriend 3 years later and asked if our son could meet her. I said yes.(Our son was 5 at this point almost 6) My son came home and this is how our conversation went. "Mama, can tell you something about daddies friend?" "Sure, baby." "Can I say a bad word?" I was so confused at this point. "Just this once." "She was a bitch," I died laughing. Now my son is 8 my ex-boyfriend/ his father is getting married to that woman. He came back to our small town for the wedding and me trying to prove I was over him to everyone (including him) Invited them to stay with me and our son till the wedding. I'm stupid. My son also hates his almost stepmom. Also now I know why my son said she was a bitchXD. She told me to stop flirting with her man after I asked him to drop our son off at school. Anyway very awkward right now. Plus our son now wants to know why his dad and I split up after finding a bunch of pictures of me and the dad together in high school. I can't right nowXd

This song means a lot to me. My parents never got married, but they were boyfriend and girlfriend when my mom had me. My dad did some awful stuff to my mom and I. It was like a prison that I couldn't find a way out of. I'm a happy person, because I feel it is important to be. I've spent enough of my life worrying about what would happen the next day when my dad was drunk again. Long story short,I dont live with him anymore. I'm happy. So everyone reading this,if this song broke your heart, dont let it. Smile and move forward. You dont know what's going to happen down the road,so...just smile

I come from a family where divorce seems to be the "normal". My grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and all 3 of my siblings are divorced, most remarried and had kids with their new partners. I vowed when I was a teen that I would never put a child through that and if I was to get married, that I would make sure it was going to last forever. I got my wish because I've been with my incredible husband for almost 29 yrs, have a 27 yr old son and a 25 yr old son who just got married to the love of his life. He said that his dad & I taught him how to love, not to think that it's all going to be a walk in the park and that when they face a difficult time in their marriage to work at fixing it, not to throw it away like it's just another disposable thing. I was beyond touched by what he said and realized that he had learned one of the most important lessons he could have from his dad and I. I lived most of this song and I thank God everyday that my 2 amazing sons never had to. My heart goes out to y'all who have had to go through their parents divorcing and living this song. I hope that you find true love and can break the cycle of divorce.

My heart and prayers goes out to y'all and remember.. life will get better!

Then when I was 10 we moved out into the country and then my mom and her dumb boyfriend are always fussing and I am so happy when I get to go to my dads house! I wish my mom and dad where still together. But my mom was to much for my dad! My mom won't let me go to my dads unless he gives her money for her boyfriend. When he gets 4000 dollar every other week. Me works at Auto Zone he's a truck driver. My dad is 1 of those people who don't have a lot of money and don't have expensive things. I love my dad so much. My parents divorced when I was 4 and I'm 15 now, I relate to this %100 and I never want to have to put my future kids thru that.

This song is honestly everything. I can relate 100%. My mom and dad have been divorced since I was 2. I never say my dad. My dad was in the military so when I saw him I didn’t know who he was. It was terrible. Long story short my mom and dad started having problems. Me and my mom moved out. I never saw my dad till I was 4.

I'm 26 and my parents split a very long time ago. Used to be really tore up about my lack of a relationship with my dad but now.. I get to see my husband be a daddy to our sweet son. And that's more than enough and has really fixed my heart in so many ways. It gets better y'all!
