She's not only singing and selling the hell out of the vocal, but she's playing a lead piano line with one hand and an amazing bass line on the minimoog with the other.

Love how you phrased it “selling the hell out of the vocal.” So true! It’s easy to become too focused on playing a instrument when singing and vice versa. And she’s doing a hell of a job at both here!

When this gigantic hit song came out in the 1970s, I didn't like it all. I thought it was corny and dumb. What did I know...I was into Deep Purple, Alice Cooper and Jethro Tull, ha ha. And i still love all of those bands, but today I listen to Love Will Keep Us Together and I think it's one of the greatest pop songs of my time. It's so perfectly written and performed, with melody, a beat, a hook and a keyboard riff that immediately captures your ear. Plus the lyrics: "Young and beautiful / Someday your looks will be gone."....very unusual for a love song at the top of the charts. Neil Sedaka and co-writer Howard Greenfield created an enduring classic (one of many).

Some fun facts... This song spent 4 weeks on top of billboard Top 40 (summer of 1975). It was the number one song of the year 1975. I remember Casey Kasem raving about it and the artists. Written by Howard Greenfield and Neil Sedaka 2 years earlier. Neil was a great songwriter and singer in the 1970s as well. Toni's playing piano and synth bass. The Captain is playing everything else, I so love the Hammond B3 organ with a Leslie speaker. It just gives a band such a full sound.

Yes, perusing other songs that went to #1 in 1975, there was a grab bag of variety: Elton John (three times), Bee Gees, John Denver, Eagles, Van McCoy, Neil Sedaka (twice), David Bowie, Glen Campbell, Olivia Newton-John...what a time for music just before disco took over for a while.
