I want to make Lovebites happen for me too on account of how popular they are, but except for maybe 5 songs, I just can’t get into their music. I do still sometimes watch reactions though, because maybe someone else will pick something out and give me a different way to listen to it. I don’t know. I was there for the neoclassical metal boom of the mid/late 80s and I loved it! I should be all over Lovebites but there’s something lacking. I still periodically put them on and try though, so I can’t blame these Azz Bros for being open to trying to get into them more as well. I also respect them for not lying in order to placate some of the viewers.

For me, "Break the Wall" is one of the best thrash songs ever written. It is as good, and probably better than anything from Slayer, Anthrax or Testament. I'll admit that vocal style comes down entirely to personal preference. When I first heard Asami's vocals, I'll admit I didn't really like them. It took me months to even get used to them. But the musicianship (and song writing) is god-level elite, which was more than enough for me to stick with them. Over time, Asami's vocal style started to grow on me, and here I am a few years later I absolutely ADORE HER SINGING. I simply cannot imagine LOVEBITES with another singer.

It doesn't matter if you don't like Lovebites. because more people like Lovebites. including nemophila members who came and watched the Lovebites concert live. Even Nemophila's vocalist praised Lovebites' vocalist Asami's voice.

That is fine. I dabbled in J-Metal band listening years back and Nemophila's Dissension was the one that hooked me. I don't even remember if I checked out LOVEBITES. A year passed by and I thought to myself what was that band and song that I liked. I started binging J-metal bands again and I remembered that I deliberately put an effort to check out LOVEBITES since people kept mentioning their name in the comments. Now they're my obsession for 2 years and counting. Moral of the story: You'll come around 😄

Yes even with Mao (composer) they serve to others Japanese bands to compose. They are giants worldwide of rock music with a capital G. I don't know nowadays other band with such creativity and easiness and ability to compose such complex music and make such uplifting lyrics created mainly by Asami. And at the end they can transfer all at the sage live. What makes them great.

Back in the day you never associated bands with a new group with the exception of "kingdom come"! Magazines, radio rock shows and LPs were the source of our information and the only communication with the outside world were with friends at the pub or a venue to compare our views on a particular band! Here's the thing, if Lovebites were an 80s band, no comparisons would be made. These ladies are the best thing since the 80s. When I heard Dream Theater in '89 it was a breath of fresh air. The same goes for Jinjer when I heard them in Ukraine 2014. For me Lovebites falls into that bracket, a breath of fresh air and it is needed as metal has become stagnant. I used to get revved up listening to AC/DC at the weekends, lovebites now does it for me! I will make one comparison, Asami is the female version of Bruce Dickenson 😉😎!!

I think the majority of Lovebites fans are two groups of music lovers. The first is people who grew up on classic hard rock and heavy metal in the 70s-80s-90s, who find in the band's work everything that was close to them in those years and is still dear to them. The second is people with broad musical erudition, lovers of good music, regardless of genre, who can appreciate musicality in the broadest sense and the performing level of Lovebites musicians. It seems that the reactors do not belong to either the first or the second group. They can only be, as they claim, honest reactors. Personally, it seems obvious to me that Lovebites are superior to any other group mentioned here. And not only with technical skill, but, first of all, with their music, which differs from other groups in composition, arrangements and sound. Lovebites is the only band that can be called great, epic. In the entire history of rock and metal music, there have been and are not many bands that can be said about. Band-Maid, as well as Nemophila, are very good bands with very high-level musicians, especially Nemophila. They play quite eclectic music with rock, metal, pop elements. But these are ordinary groups, of which there have been and will be many. Lovebites is another matter. This is a band that can become a legend. I know Band-Maid pretty well. I don't listen to their studio albums, but I enjoy watching live videos. I have five of their full-fledged releases (Shinkiba Studio Coast Live 2017, Start Over 2018, World Domination Tour at Line Cube Shibuya 2020, Band-Maid Online Okyu- Ji 2021, Tokyo Garden Theater 2023) and one small one (Sense 2021), all in blu-ray quality. But it wouldn't occur to me to listen to Band-Maid as listening music. The same can be said about Nemophila.

“it seems obvious to me that Lovebites are superior to any other group mentioned here. And not only with technical skill, but, first of all, with their music, which differs from other groups in composition, arrangements and sound.” Lovebites are better at a technical level, but if a reactor is not liking the voice, they won’t be considered the better band. That’s just the reality of the situation. As for the songwriting, I think some other bands are better in that area. Each band having their own pros and cons. “Lovebites is the only band that can be called great, epic. In the entire history of rock and metal music, there have been and are not many bands that can be said about.” I think you should better define the area of greatness. You could say they overall have more instrumental talent than the other all-female bands, and it is more specific. I believe it would be true as well. It would be zeroing in on what you mean by “great” here. “Band-Maid, as well as Nemophila, are very good bands with very high-level musicians, especially Nemophila. They play quite eclectic music with rock, metal, pop elements. But these are ordinary groups, of which there have been and will be many.” Well, Lovebites are more technical than both, but to me Band-Maid is a bit better on the songwriting. Nemophila? Their music is kind of a mess right now, but they have some good instrumentals. I think there are pros and cons to the different all-female bands. For example, I like really the songwriting for Hanabie, but they aren’t anywhere near as good instrumentally as Lovebites.

@@SomethingToDo360 I'll try to explain what I mean by greatness and epicness. To a large extent, this is determined by the structure of the music (composition) and vocals. The dramatic soprano Asami hovers over the instruments, her singing style is very pretentious. Even her usual singing position gives the impression of a sublime and heroic performance. That is, she does not just sing a song, but performs, addresses the audience with a message. The Lovebites songs themselves, despite their external similarity to hard rock and metal, have an internal structure peculiar to art rock or various forms of classic progressive of the 70s. The technical skill of the musicians adds to this feeling of sophistication. Lovebites are reviving rock and metal music as an art that has been lost over the years of the dominance of mass culture. As for songwriting, I think the main problem with Band-Maid and Nemophila is that they don't know how to write songs. They just don't have Miyako. As everyone knows, she should be in every group, that does not want to be ordinary, but claims to be something more.)
@SomethingToDo360

@@dymyavalor6135 To me Asami has the vocal power and range, but what people forget is that she is also an incredible leader-type and frontwoman, one who can rally the crowd with extreme confidence (Asami doesn’t appear remotely shy or hesitant), all as she dances around. Because she believes in herself so strongly, and doesn’t appear hesitant or uncertain, people naturally follow her; she’s a natural leader-type. She can take charge in other ways too. To me she isn’t someone who could easily be replaced, as she’s more than just her vocal performance. Having said that, I think there is some disconnect between her voice and the musical style, particularly on thrash songs, that some people cannot get past, but perhaps won’t feel that way when listening to Dissonance (it’s different), but not entirely sure of what they will think. I think maybe Asami’s attempt to try things a bit differently (like for Dissonance), was to improve in that area. If so, they are extremely aware, far more than their fanbase is. Like very self-critical. She even improved generally speaking as well. I think she’s better now. “I think the main problem with Band-Maid and Nemophila is that they don't know how to write songs.” I can understand that sort of criticism for Nemophila, but not for Band-Maid. Edit: I just listened to more Nemophila, and I think I’ve been too critical of them. It’s not bad. Some songs though, are like… what.

I agree with your assessment and description of Asami. I have noticed that she changes the tone and style of her singing frequently on the various songs that Lovebites plays. To me, usually she sounds super awesome, among the best I ever heard, but there are a few songs where I personally don't like the choices she made, usually it's something like a bit too much vibrato on certain lines that make it sound far too wobbly (according to my personal taste). And in a few live performances she pushes past her limits on the high note belts and loses control of her tone to the point that it starts to sound like a screech. But those are rare moments and stuff like that probably happens to every singer, where you just might not have it some days. However, her skills as a leader and front woman are as great as anyone in the music business. Bruce Dickinson is like that, he knows how to connect with the audience and so does Asami.@@SomethingToDo360

“thrash does not fully showcase Asami’s broad and powerful mezzo-soprano range” Thats part of it, but the “lack of connection” comes from other factors. Some may feel that her vocals don’t quite match the style of song well enough (it may even sound weird or cheesy to some), which may be related to a disconnect as to how Western audiences would perceive/hear it. To me, Western reactors don’t seem to enjoy the vocals as much on that particular song (Break the Wall); like it feels off. For the song Dissonance, personally I don’t hear the same issue, but Asami sounds very different for that song. I think Dissonance is a significantly better recommendation than songs like Break the Wall and Thunder Vengeance. Then of course, other factors can be that Break the Wall and Thunder Vengeance doesn’t really allow for Asami to shine, or to play to her particular vocal strengths. So it is a combination of factors. Edit: the heavy use of vibrato, is also a factor to consider for Asami, insomuch as some people don’t prefer it.

@@SomethingToDo360 Well, it's just personal taste or preferences if someone thinks Asami's vocals don't match the style of music. I, for one, are more than happy with her vocals in any genre/sub-genre of rock. Having said that, thrash is one sub-genre that doesn't fully utilize her powerful & melodic range but that certainly doesn't mean that it's not good (from my perspective). However, I agree with you about "Dissonance". I'll go one step further and say that it's actually refreshing to hear her new-found grit in her vocals for a thrash song with punk vibes. Perhaps I'll go even as far to say it's a new "innovation" in the thrash sub-genre ? Also, not all Lovebites' thrash songs don't fully utilize Asami's vocal abilities. "Set the World on Fire" is a good example of a vocal-thrash track perfect fit (for me).

Honestly, at this point stop the Lovebites reviews and move on, you clearly are not meant for the Wolfpack. I might suggest Nemophila or the Warning if you are looking for other great all female bands to try out. I would also recommend Band Maid (Hard Rock/Punk influences) but they are much like Lovebites so I don't believe that will work. Lovebites plays many genres but Thrash LIVE is where they really shine but you clearly haven't, and it doesn't seem to me, or will ever connect with them.

@@TheWholeAzzShow My point is, after the 2nd reaction where you simply say it isn't for you, the less than stellar feelings about the band won't interest Lovebites fans much, and most won't watch for some anticipation that you might actually like the song. It has nothing to do with any other reactions you do nor about you as reactors, and as I stated, I just won't watch any more of your Lovebites reactions. In terms of growling: Just watch their reaction to Nemophila's "Zen", and you know, where they are headin'. I have no problem with that (I like both Nemophila and Lovebites), but growling simpy does not match with "Lovebites". Lovebites and Nemophila are different "cattles of fish". @@TheWholeAzzShow I can't speak for others but I know that I will think your just saying that for the views. And thats not even your fault. And it may not even be accurate. It's the fault of the other reactors that came before you changing their mind on any topic once they find out it's popular. I am NOT speaking about your channel specifically but the youtube universe in general is filled with a bunch of phonies. Including us, your audience. You would have to be a moron to think that every reactor likes everything they react to. But it's fun to pretend thats the case. Until they do something that makes it impossible to pretend any more. And your a little nave thinking we want to hear you don't like something we like. No matter how honest your being. Because in the end, us fans, really don't want your actual opinion on something. We want you to BELIEVABLY agree with us on how great the thing your reacting to is. Even if you don't think it's so great. LOL. Believe me when i tell you I was as surprised as anyone to find this out about myself. I truly respect that you guys said their music dosn't grab you. It's refreshing that your being honest. But if you were to suddenly "get on board" with their music after saying for two videos it's not for you, I am sorry but I would have to question your motives for the change. And thats totally because of other reviewers doing the same sort of thing 100 times before you for the clicks. That would ruin the illusion for me. Is this fair? Of course not. But I am just telling you where my mind would go if you did start to suddenly like them. Hey but what do I know. Do what you need to do.
