As for the swan song reference: The swan song is a metaphorical phrase for a final gesture, effort, or performance given just before death or retirement. The phrase refers to an ancient belief that swans sing a beautiful song just before their death since they have been silent (or alternatively not so musical) for most of their lifetime. The belief, whose basis has been long debated, had become proverbial in ancient Greece by the 3rd century BC and was reiterated many times in later Western poetry and art.

To see Miyako play the opening piece at concert grade, and then calmly reach up for her guitar pick from the lid of piano, grab her guitar and then rip that opening hammer-on sequence is a thing of beauty... then Asami comes in!!! This song is a masterpiece from start to finish. And such lyrics ❤Perhaps my favorite Lovebites track for it's completeness 🤘🎸🐺

Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the most difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor), with a passage by Rachmaninoff as the outro. For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s not normally included in their shows.

The audio on this is excellent and you can really appreciate the piano so much more than Knocking at Heaven's Gate recording. Miyako's brain is amazing but lest we forget that all those genius compositions she comes up with still need Asami's lyrics and her bandmates insane talent to be able to play them especially LIVE. Honestly, those that say this much talent in one band should be illegal maybe on to something ....LOL. Great reaction. Chopin's compositions often enough are a graveyard of aspiring musicians' hopes and dreams. Many do not stand that test. And Miyako plays this, as if it were just some warming-up unit. She is a one-off. Admitted: she started to play piano at the age of 3. But she could have "beaten it" later, and changed to another instrument. Or she could have left the music section at all. But I think, that she was _born_ to make music. I bet, that she could even play Chopin _blind_ . She knows the piano by heart anyway. To me, Miyako is on piano masterclass level.

Please don't pay any attention to the haters! I just look at them as little miserable people who come out of their mamas basements just long enough to be rude and then scurry back down again to hide. You seem like a wonderful young lady, so keep being you and ignore them. There is a legend that the only time swans sing is just before their death. So a person's "swan's song" is an act that they did prior to their death for which they'll be remembered. Btw... Miyako started learning piano when she was 3 years old. Her plan was to become a concert pianist. When she was 18, she taught herself to play guitar from books (no teacher). She has also taught herself to play bass and drums. She composes most of Lovebites' music now and she says that knowing so many instruments helps her to compose and arrange the music. Take care and thank you for promoting Lovebites!

I agree with every word of your reactions! I have listened to a few Japanese metal bands and my reactions have been mainly positive, like pretty good, interesting, nice. Then I heard Lovebites and went "What the f* did I just hear? Am I in heaven?" I' m pushing 60 so I am a child of the 80's. I never expected to hear a new band playing 80's influenced metal even better than my old heroes! They are also not just influenced by one genre but by an entire era. They play power metal, thrash, speed, NWOBHM, all with their own style added. I don't need to rant about how exceptionally skilled all members are, but they are not just individual virtuosos but a very tight band.

"Swan song" originates from Greek mythology. You will find mention of this phrase all the way back to Plato. A "swan song" is used to depict the final performance or work of an actor, singer, composer, writer, etc... According to Greek folklore, swans were not known for their singing abilities but sang most beautifully before they die, and hence this phrase came to be used to describe someone who was "departing" in style. In this video, what you did not see was Asami (lead vocalist) performing the "dying swan" act towards the end of the song because the camera was trained on Miyako's (lead guitarist/pianist) piano outro. Glad you went and did this version with the Chopin intro. The piano at the end of this song is much better mixed so it is much more prominent. I read through rhe comments, so you already heard the correct pronunciation of Chopin and background of the song and Miyako's musical background. Been a metalhead since the 70s, yes I'm that old. These ladies are some of the most talented musicians I've heard. Collectively as a group it should be illegal to have so much talent. As for Miyako, there are not enough words in any language to describe the musical genius she is. These ladies bring such a fresh sound that is uniquely them but has such retro feels with so many influences from bands we already know and love in metal. Their ability to mix classical and power metal is brilliant. This is what metal has needed and I've heard a lot of metal bands, no one is doing what Lovebites do, one of the best metal bands I've ever had the privilege to listen to. Definitely up there with the best. As for those haters, ignore then, do what you're doing and stay honest, we'll love you for it. Sorry for the novel....

Interested in indie bands. Aldious formed in 2008 as an all Female Metal band. The Japanese music industry was not interested in Female bands. So they firmed their own record label and released an EP. This sold out almost overnight and got them the #7 spot on the Indie chart. They had this song, Spirit Black, that became a monster hit, and was picked as the ending theme song for a TV show giving them national prominence.they have had 9 studio Albums that made the Billboard Japan top 100 in the years they were released. They have about 80 songs in their Discography and not 1 bad song in the bunch. They have performed with 4 different singers. I highly recommend reacting to Aldious Dominator live Radiant A O East . Song sung by Re:No. Because of the success and popularity of Aldious, hundreds of other Female Japanese bands including Lovebites were able to get through the door that Aldious had opened. When everyone said Female bands can't succeed, Aldious not just succeeded but became the second most popular female band, the the most successful.

Asami the singer wrote the lyrics for almost all their songs. Some very meaningful, uplifting, motivating, humanity and many more. Try watching 'Rising' or, Edge Of The World, Epilog' with lyric/CC. Yes, they're a one of a kind metal band. 👍🤘

To be extremely formal, I don't think the piano piece at the beginning is the intro to SwanSong. I think it was introduced as a separate track in the live program as "Piano Solo Performance" --> "SwanSong" (maybe I'm remembering wrong?) However, they seem to have realized that this program sequence (where the piano solo acts as an intro to the next song) produces very good results. This method of ``Before a metal song, Miyako plays a classical piano solo related to that song'' seems to have been used frequently in live performances since then. Great reaction. I'm deeply glad that you tried this version again. This version is way better in the mixing and camera work than Knockin' at the Heaven's Gate version. Revolutionary Etude is said that it was written by Chopin under his great anger and depression hearing the fail of Polish cadets rebelling against Russian dictatorial rule. Hence it is about defeated heroes, and Swan Song is also about the death of heroes and their dedication, honor and glory. Hence those two pieces make a kind of a suite sharing the same theme. The world is not perfect. There are always people complaining about some strange small things. Just you got to ignore the negative side. This is definitely the better version. As good as the 2023 performances are, the mix for the guitars and piano in them is too low, sadly. You can actually hear everything in the 2019, 2020 and 2021 performances. I love the writing in a lot of their songs, especially Frozen Serenade, Epilogue, and Edge of the World. We the United is great too, and the 2023 performance of that is fantastic. I also really like the writing in Empty Daydream. Lyrics though in most of their songs are really, really good. The Chopin piece Miyako (guitar/keyboards) is playing in the intro is "Etude OP10, No. 12" known as the "Revolutionary Etude." In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was called the "November Revolution" but ended in failure due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agent presented "Etude OP10, No. 12" in Paris. Because of the agent's exaggerated publicity, people called this piece "Revolutionary Etude. Miyako composed "Swan Song" based on this "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony. Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude" and inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake. Ok, you are going back to Band Maid and want to do a music video then you have to react to Band Maid's Thrill video. This is the video that started it all, it saved their careers and started their world domination. It was done on a shoestring budget, and they were very close to being released by their management company. Some YT reactors found the vid started spreading it around.
