The community of Dartmouth are grieving the death of Won Jang, a student who was found in a river. Lydia Jin, Jang's girlfriend, recounts the moments she found out and her hopes for change.

I agree. I went to a school that had fraternities suspended during my school year and the school president lifted the suspension after one semester which I can see this one happening too. Schools don’t really do anything.

Agreed. College is only for people who want to be doctors, lawyers, engineers or executives. For the rest of us, there are lots of good jobs at warehouses, fulfillment centers and fast food restaurants.

Connecticut river not a lot going on, in the way of current. But. I been in that exact spot, in the summer, and it always this 'realization' you not in a pool and for a non swimmer, like Jang, and he possible drunk, he coulda freak out, moment he experience nothing solid under his feet. There not a shallow place, in that area, where the dock is, for stand up and wade into deeper from shallow. All it take is a small area of river and this poor kid drown. I pretty sure, when my sister at Dartmouth, there a rule that if you no know how to swim, you have to take swimming as sport or you no graduate. This in late 1970's. RIP.

Very odd, strange American practices, these fraternity rituals are extremely questionable, to say the least; the desperation to fit in with the culture and the fear of missing out on the ultimate American college experience can cost dearly, not the first nor the last to bite the dust at the hands of such a "fraternity ".
