This is my favorite mod ever. Blew my mind the first time I played it. Has the best grappling hook in any mod. The concept of elemental magic in the form of solids liquids and gas is so brilliant, I feel like a chemist playing this mod.

My Favourite times in Minecraft where playing either Pixelmon or Thaumcraft, i remember spending HOURS playing with the magic system and actually feeling smarter each time i got a spell right, i'd play with 2 other friends and we would all debate together how to create a spell with it's specific elements, truly the best magical feeling i have ever gotten in a game.

thaumcraft is the most detailed and in-depth magic system ever made for minecraft, and it's quite similar to real life too. magic is a potent force and it requires strenuous study and research to harness. everything about this mod is fun to me, even starting completely over and pretending like i'm an apprentice again. i just wish i could enjoy it in the present day with all of my friends and without the restrictions of 1.12.2

The fact that you have to study Thaumcraft's magic system is probably my favorite part about it. It really makes you feel like you're in the world studying it's magic and figuring out how you can use the knowledge you gain. I hope that one day someone makes a game based on Thaumcraft.

There is a new thaumcraft inspired mod called Thaumia for 1.20. It’s still in early release so it doesn’t have much of a guide book yet. It is very similar to Thaumcraft.

The Team CoFH discord shows teasers of thaumcraft occasionally and it's cool to see some of the things they have in the works. Thaumcraft 4 was a solid mod and I still find myself occasionally making a light 1.7.10 modpack that includes it. I hope that Team CoFH does a good job with Thaumcraft and that we see a wide resurgence of the mod and magic mods in general.

Cant play any other version but 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 after trying thaumcraft, it became my favorite mod cause of its unique style, multiblock structures, unique magic system, beautiful 3d armors that doesnt make my eyes bleed due to the voxels (one of reasons why i hate draconic evolution, i wanna see minecrat, not cube world), and the amount of content thaumcraft adds just makes it much better than any other mod in my opinion. All new versions are just worse for me for not having thaumcraft

I miss ThaumCraft so much man. I need an interesting, research focused magic mod in my Minecraft games. Ars Nouveau rn is currently the best magic mod for the most recent versions and it has no research. You just toss things together and have no real understanding to how it all works aside from "It's magic from The Source" and "A Wizard did it" completely consequence free magic. The thing I love so much about ThaumCraft is that it makes magic feel like a science with a very fine line between order and chaos that you have to understand how to harness properly and safely to use it to your advantages. I am just holding out hope that one day I can play ThaumCraft on a more recent version of Minecraft again. And I hope when that time comes I feel as though I know nothing and am discovering magic for the first time again.

I consistently play thaumcraft (And other mods) Specifically for vers 1.7.10. The mods and the version are what i grew up on and has a sense of nostalgia. Always had a thing for magic mods, never really got along with science mods until i played thaumcraft and realised that there are mods than combine both. To this day one of my favourites!

Thaumcraft is my favourite mod of all time. It completely changes the progression of the game in a fun way. I loved the puzzle game aspect and also the grinding for new materials to make cool gear and additions to your base. It's the kind of mod that has a story/progression that sets things up with immense payoff for the amount of work you put in. It's so satisfying since it requires both luck (it took me so long to find this one type of wood I remember... also those dang crystals are so rare), strategy (investing materials into essence) and dedication but also is never boring and the fluxy/occult aesthetic lowkey affected my sense of media to consume (I got into HP lovecraft and other similar authors/artists because of this mod... also Flux Buddies was my favourite series back in the day. I was ultra invested in the Lalnable Hector stuff... RIP tiddles). I'm going to replay it. I was so proud of my old base that I saved a copy of it on Google Drive lol so I might actually check it out again as a nostalgia trip.

Exactly. Thaumcraft is one of my favorite mods and also my favorite magic mod because it goes its iwn way- its not stupid and stereotypical as your average Harry Potter, but it is more like a dope science, chemistry perhaps. Great video btw! 🧡

It’s my favourite mod. I never got to experience the glory days of early mods when I was younger and the Minecraft modding scene was in its infancy, legendary mods like Aether, ProjectE, Twilight Forest etc, but I can imagine my feeling towards playing Thaumcraft would be akin to if I were to experience these other legendary mods at the time. It’s just that good. I hope it’s still being worked on, because I would love it to be ported to newer versions of Minecraft vanilla.

I have been trying to recreate this mod. Once upon a time I made a rather public statement that I'll be doing that and at the same time I messaged the owner Asanor13 and the group he gave permission/ownership to COFT for actual permission to update it to the newest version of forge. Azanor has been silent and the group said I can make my own if I do it from scratch. I've been learning java since then. I'm probably no closer to remaking it now then i was when I started for the most part. But My desire and passion for it has not diminished. I do have a lot of time on my hands and I promise to continue my efforts as when I started I knew nothing of java programming but I have been learning a lot. X3

Pretty much the only issue or wall in my way is art design. It has been a year of trials and tribulations but I'll have something good to show for it in a month or 2 for others to bug test with me. Thaumcraft 4 was my favourite mod ever. It felt so amazing to make elaborate essentia distillation plants and learn all the interactions between elements to do research quickly. It’s really sad it’s not ported to recent versions as I disliked most of the changes in thaumcraft 5 and upwards.

Thaumcraft was an ERA in minecraft history. It had it's flaws, like, you know, the friggin taint that could waste your entire world just because you missed one tainted block underneath your base before going caving... But it was beautifully unhinged in the best way possible. It presented magic as this chaotic force, wild and untamable by definition, and just like every force of nature, you could never control it, only borrow its power for a while, but the second you become too arrogant - it will remind you of your place in the most painful way (and to whoever thinks humans are the "pinnacle of evolution" and "conquerers of nature" and blablabla - go try telling that to a raging tornado and see if it will listen). Nowadays magic mods are tame and vanilla af. Like, take a look at Ars Nouveau or Ocultism, their books pretty much tell you everything about what the things do and how to make and use them before you even craft them, you don't feel like you're researching something new that nobody's done before - you feel like you're an engineer at a construction site, building a 100th house in a 10000 houseblock. Thaumcraft had this genius shady style of writing, where you only got hints on how to progress, but never a clear "go there do this" instructions, and it made you feel like a pioneer dabling in forbidden arts, like a scholar studying a dangerous subject by taking ever so cautious steps forward. And yes, it absolutely involved blowing yourself up on occasion XD I still hope somebody will resurrect Thaumcraft one day. Even if it will be a direct port to never versions with zero new things - that would be more than enough, cause frankly, Thaumcraft is already perfect the way it is and doesn't need anything to be added.

Thaumcraft is heavily influenced by the works of H.P. Lovecraft. Eldritch beings, or Old Ones, often influence people through dreams, or other subtle means, slowly driving them mad. In Thaumcraft, you can chose the safe route but, if it's power and "questionable" knowledge you desire, it comes at a price...

I wonder if they're looking at the add-ons thaumic argumentation, and planer artifice. It would also be interesting, we have seen the devastation to the chunk, but have not yet seen the devastation to a world perhaps we can see a tainted dimension like that's what happened to the previous world like when Thaumcraft had nodes.

I think thaumcraft also works well like Magic Nexus mod in previous versions. I have also seen a little crossover with astral sorcery and bewitchment. sadly none for Bontana or Blood Magic.i like the crossover for AE2 with add-on

I have always loved Thaumcraft. It is the only magic mod that is unsurpassed in its construction and augmentation. However, the updated version from the original (v. 4?), was to me 'dumbed down' and lost much. The original made you work hard for your 'sparklies' and made you think, really think out the puzzels of the table. The next update by the creator ( v. 6) dumbed it down even more. No longer do you hunt for vis, nodes [in a jar] are gone, and there is no longer any use for the magic trees, i.e. Greatwood because wands are gone. I don't want a do everythin 'gauntlet'. "You are a Wizard Harry" after all, and wizards have wands. Return to the original format. That was a blast. Jus my 2 cents.

Oh 100% they have, but Azanor is a mod creator that wants to maintain the integrity of their mod. Meaning, if someone was the successor, they would have to maintain the ideal vision of the mod similar to how Azanor would want it.

I wouldn't mind if they where optional with different benefits but removing gauntlets? @@isttret lol i said the same thing about optional gloves and they chewed me out for it. And yea it makes no sense to go from glove back to wand because the thaumonomicon states that gloves are better. If you have one it should be the glove. But they should really just include both because they know each version has many appreciators. It is sad that tc6 isnt just being ported and finished, instead theyre redoing everything and changing all the iconic textures due to copywright fear meanwhile the textures still exist in previous mod versions with no issues.

So Thaumcraft is dead. Between taking your child to the park or an adopted child who you have to still ask their parent before taking them... You're just going to take your child. Especially with how Minecraft has been making it difficult for mods to keep up... I have no hope for seeing Thuamcraft make a return. But I've moved on too: Create - for my mechanical itch Tetra - (replaced tinkers) Botania - for random use Hexerei - for flight and some cool alternatives Ars Neavou - for my magic needs Is it the same? No. But I've lost mods in the past. Gotta read the writing on the wall, simple enough that the COFH crew has more than enough keeping their mods up to date and that Thaumcraft is the side project if they have time.

There is a spreadsheet which literally lists every single stolen asset (hundreds of them, over pages and pages) with links to the original source of the asset. I think I found that on the Cofh discord but am too lazy to check.

If it's on Cofh discord, the same discord of the new developer of thaumcraft, isn't that just an asset reference list for the new developers? A list of assets doesn't mean they allegedly stole the assets, especially since modding requires a variety of skills that Azanor might not have, so he could've asked for assistance from other developers. And how well known something is factors with how well documented it, because it means there's nothing much on the case for Azanor's alleged theft of assets. Edit: Damien Hazard was one of these people that made some assets for Azanor, such as armor

I will however try nontheless, since english is not my first language and my way of writing might have lead to some misunderstandings. 1. Read the document which I provided. It states very clearly that some assets were made specifically for the mod and names the creators. Among others it names Damien Hazard. BUT THEN IT GOES ON: "This is all well and good, however it seems that a great majority of these assets were instead obtained using a mysterious arcane technique: searching for random bollocks on Google Images." AND THEN SHOWS ALL OF THE (HUNDREDS) OF ASSETS THAT WERE NOT (!!!!!!) MADE FOR THE MOD. AND THEN IT GIVES THE *ORIGINAL* SOURCES FOR EACH OF THESE ASSETS!!!!!! For example: -Rare Earth comes from the asset of Rare Earth Elements from Anno 2205. - Thaumonomicon sprite comes from another game called Tibia. - Ethereal Bloom is the Dreamsee Herb from Trials of Mana 2, another game. etc. THEY WERE NOT!!! TALKING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLE STEALING FROM AZANOR!!!! IT COULDN'T BE PUT ANY PLAINER IN THE DOCUMENT I PROVIDED! I simply cannot fathom how you came to this conclusion from the document I provided. Just one quote to hammer this home: "Now, carrying on with the theme of legal ambiguity, *Thaumcraft tends to use a lot of… acquired sprites. These were taken from particular games...*" 2. I can only restate what I have already written: how well something is documented is not determened by how widely it is known. It is determined by the *quality and quantity of the documentation*. And here we have an extremely extensive, painstakingly researched, and plainly presented *document* with almost every stolen (or taken without attribution) asset in the mod. It is 31 pages long. If you can't call this well documented then I dont't know what is lol. You have the factual evidence all gathered in a document. You dont need a thousand people writing comments about how Azanor stole assets to document that he did. Something can be extremely well documented, while few people know about it, just like here. You either misunderstand the relationship of the two or what i mean by "widely known". (By it I mean many people know about it). Anyway, just read the document I provided and try to understand it. Or have someone translate it into your native language so you understand it better. Or have someone explain it to you. I fear by my efforts I might have confused you even more.

It is really a very nice mod, but unfortunately the work done by the team currently working on it does not reflect the essence of Thaumcraft. They do gatekeeping And they are really toxic to players. If one day a mod called Thaumcraft 7 comes out, you will see that it has nothing to do with our iconic mod. This is really sad.
