It's not uncommon for children, even small children, to have better sense than their parents. I recall my mother bathing me and I begged her, "Don't mention HIM anymore!" I referred to a boyfriend she had years prior to her meeting my Dad but whom I was being told about on a regular basis. As a child, I knew it was harming me to be dragged into a romance that ended prior to my birth. For about 10 years, Mom and I fought The Battle of the Dirty Kleenexes. Since she brought it into their relationship she must know herself well and what she needs to thrive in it. And she probably wants her marriage to last and not end due to out of control anger issues and volatility. Many do well when they know where the boundaries are and respect them. If it works for them, and is consensual, it's far better than seeing a broken home, with children struggling to live.

see my only questions are; where are these "benefits" to the relationship they mention, and why would you even involve your kids? Lazarus admitted he was hesitant to even try it, and Brandi says she hates the punishments and the tedium of some of them. so where are these ends that "justify the means"? neither of them get anything positive out of this, so how does it contribute to the relationship in any positive sense? it just seems to be a miserable aspect of the relationship that neither of them like to be part of. and the kids being taught about it, like why involve them in any way?
