UPDATE: I saw a trichologist today and it turns out I was misdiagnosed by my GP. I’ll update you all in an upcoming vlog soon 🫶🏾

I will be looking forward to the update because my daughter’s scalp looks just like yours and took her to a dermatologist and they said there’s no cure. 😩 I want to lock her hair but I want her scalp better first. Any input you have will be greatly appreciated!❤

Yes he came in and didn’t even look at the worst part of her head. He prescribed a steroid for her scalp and was pretty much saying there’s nothing that can be done to cure it all I can do is treat it with washing weekly like I’ve been doing and oil it. He’s the 2nd person I’ve taken her to. The 1st person gave her products but no change. I’m just at a loss right now soooo idk😩

So everyone should check their vitamin D levels high association with eczema psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp….from personal experience during august of 2024 i was in the sun everyday for at least 20 minutes….i made sure my legs, and arms and stomach were able to receive the sun rays…..i also noticed i was sweating a lot from my scalp like a detox it lasted for a couple of days but throughout that whole month i had no flare ups. Now that we are in winter flare ups have started as ive just decided not to be outside as much. I think a great solution is to walk outside even in the winter months because your face is exposed to the sun rays. Additionally eat foods that will synthesis vitamin D in the body. If you eat a standard diet that will include salmon, sardines, mackerel, eggs, cheese, liver. If your plant based include kelp, variety of fruits, dark leafy greens, sprouts, beans, algae, nettle, horsetail, sesame seeds and parsley. Some people find that working on their gut helped tremendously. I do suggest like it was mentioned in the video to get a blood test, also exercising helps to get rid of toxins, reducing stress levels, staying hydrated not only with water but with fruits, green juices, fresh fruit juice. Hope this helps im not saying this is the answer just a few helpful tips.

Thank you for sharing your journey because it inspires me. You were one of the first channels I subscribed to when I got my Sisterlocks a year ago because your hair looked amazing from the beginning. Even with the setbacks, it's nice to have the education out there so that it will help someone else going through he same thing. Please don't color your hair. LOL. I see a LOT of posts about regrets on coloring and how it broke their locs off. I'm going to use color spray if I want color. Your natural color is amazing.

@Ifeyinwa Amen!!! Using a medicated scalp oil that was prescribed once a week for 12 weeks. Taking hair supplements called Votesse; a tablet called Terbinafine for 7 days. A new shampoo and conditioner called Nexxus ( I think) not at home. She advised me to stop putting every tom, dick and harry on my scalp, especially since none of it was working!!! However she is in favor of locs! YAAAAAA ♡☆♡

Beautiful do not stress yourself about this dry scalp and just be informed. These tiny strands locs stresses the scalp a lot and with the “low maintenance/less wash/ no moisturising etc” that gets advised for these tiny locs , it screws up the scalp. My scalp completely got messed up immediately after my sisterlocs got installed. I binned every single advice from my loctician as I couldn’t handle the embarrassment from crazy flakes and used my common sense to look after my hair. I have no single flake now even when I do not wash for 4 weeks. I Use oil free moisturiser on my scalp, that’s game changer. And wash with quality shampoo designed to lock in moisture. Avoid rubbish shampoo. No oils. If you must, mix a few drops of tree tea oil with rose water and spritz slightly once a week or 2 weeks. But with a quality oil free scalp moisturiser and quality moisture locking shampoo, you are good.

Interesting! So I had a flare up of seborrheic dermatitis after many many years. So I knew to ask for fluocinolone 0.01%. this is an oil to be applied before washing which can be better for black women due to how drying nizoral is. I also got fluocinonide to be be applied to affected areas twice daily. It's been about a month so far and my scalp is doing so much better. You can ask your PCP to prescribe. Good luck ladies!
