Hello, i have a question thats been on my heart with this subject. Before i was a christian, i had a very serious and long relationship with my first cousin, now i understand that he is not a man of God and therefore we cannot be together, that being said it makes me feel very bad to think that i commited incest with him, however since it is not explicit that cousings cannot get married ive dealt with guilt and pain in my heart, i really feel bad because i genuinely loved him and sometimes i feel like my heart is so dirty i cannot even recognize what is bad anymore. I would sincerely like to know what can i do? I know i am forgiven but did i actually do something that bad? Is that actually forbidden?

You say you had a 'long and serious relationship' with your first cousin and I assume you didn't get married so... Yes, you have committed a sin because all sexual relationships outside of marriage are sinful and the wages of sin is death. Nonetheless since you repented and turned to God through our Messiah Jesus you can be now free of sin, guilt and shame. Do not look back like Lot's wife did. Move on according to the will of God. All the ones saved by Jesus have new life in Him so don't recall your past. It's a tactic from the enemy. Also don't trust your heart of guts to recognise what is good or bad. Rely on the word of God and pray for wisdom as king Solomon did and how it's recommended by James in his letter. God will give you wisdom if you're willing to obey Him.
