Thank you Dr. Baruch for your teaching of the Torah. I have read the Bible a few times, but i realize just touched the surface of my readings. With your teaching of the Torah you brought forth deeper meaning and understanding of the word of G-d.

Ty so much for the teaching, now I learn something about reading the Bible in a really different way, to let it speak for itself and to let it reveals its truth...as a gentile who don't understand Biblical language this is really helpful and really mind and heart opening, since I used to just think about Genesis as creation account in Biblical perspective and now I know there's alot of revelations of truth and so rich with teachings and wisdom that God wants us to learn from and to understand His will and purposes for all of us... Praise be to our God for His kindness and mercy.. For His salvation and redemption through our Lord Messiah, Yeshua. Thank you Dr. Korman for doing this for us...especially us the gentile believers. Feeling like... It must be like this when Apostle Paul was teaching the gentiles :). May God bless you and your family, and also may God bless Israel.

7.) If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. I think there is a clause out of place in this verse. Corrected, the "his" and "him" in this verse refer to the relationship between that of Cain and Abel, not that of Cain and sin. Cain was the first born, therefore he ruled over Abel, but when his offering was rejected by God, Abel essentially became the ruler over Cain. That infuriated Cain, but he did not repent after the LORD instructed him, and instead killed his brother, Abel. Sin is always lying at the door, but we choose sin when we do not listen to the instruction of the LORD. Sin is a thing. It is an "it" or a "that", not a "him" or a "his". "Him" and "his" refer to Abel and how Cain could regain his position over his younger brother by bringing the proper offering to God.

Baruch, you are saying that Cain's sacrifice was rejected because it did not include animal sacrifice, but i don't see that anywhere in this text. GOD is simply referring to both as "offerings" and HE is not distinguishing between BLOOD offering and NON-BLOOD offering. it appears that cain's sacrifice was rejected because it was not from the FIRST fruits and it wasn't a CHOICE fruit like abel's. can you provide more biblical support for your interpretation?

The text is clear in that regard, God make clear contrast regarding this offering made by both. When Cain brought his offering it is not just about it is not the firstfruits the ground (it never said about first fruits of his harvest) contrasting with Abel'a offering as firstborn of his flock and fat - this indicating animal sacrifice. Cain just come before the Lord to offer his offering from whatever he found on his farming field, and not at his timing, it is not about the first fruit of his farming, as we know later when Torah law is given, we know there are time for giving that firstfruits of the Harvest. While Genesis 4 actually pointing to animal sacrifice, Cain disregard that and just bring things from his ground to offer it to God, not at the harvest time. Animal sacrifice to cover sin is not binded by time or season, while first fruits offering is not sacrifical offering, rather offering of your first fruits of your harvest and it was offered at harvest time only.

I thought Cains was rejected as from a cursed ground? So a lesser offering? Can see your teaching side tho. Interesting!

Regarding Cain and Abel, who got angry at who? If you follow the words/syntax Cain was not the one that got angry. Abel became angry at Cain. Cain falls to the ground and YHWH Elohim ask him (why else would he ask him unless he reacted in a wrong way), why do your face fall to the ground? Elohim gives him an encouragement: that if you do good you shall be exalted, and if you do bad you shall be stretched out on the ground (fallen faces on the ground). Abel presented the animal sacrifice because he had sinned, while Cain offered his first fruits because he had not sinned. This was clear for them at that time. I doubt anyone questions the intelligence of Adam and Eve and the first humans, this was not something they did not know about. Abel seems to have become angry because he got jealous that Cain had not sinned and he looked bad in front of Elohim. Furthermore, the word shaah Strong’s #8159 does not mean to look favorably, it simply means to look upon/to gaze. So in conclusion, if you don't force the angry emotion on Cain, and if you interpret the word shaah as it should, you come to a different conclusion altogether.

Which verse shows that Abel had sinned? And Abel was angry at Cain?
@hammurabi8246

@@chengwon There is no verse mentioning Abel sinned. Just my own interpretation. However, I have to say that my position on the sacrifice is adding to the words, since the word sacrifice is not even mentioned. So I have since I wrote my comment had an open mind about this and come to the conclusion that both perhaps just presented the fruits of their work. Nevertheless, I am sure that Adam and Eve could be clothed in many ways (silk, straw that has been weaved), but YHWH killed something to cloth them. I cannot see anything else than that they learned at that time that if you sin, someone's blood had to be spilled. Abel and Cain would have learned this also from their parents. Both Abel and Cain ate fruits at that time (before the flood), so its not like Abel had no fruit available which he could present to YHWH. Yet, he presented animals, so I still feel there is something to that. Regarding the "angry" issue: someone got angry at Cain - if you read the Hebrew (Genesis 4:5). Since that story presents us with YHWH and Abel, we have to choose one. I choose Abel.

What difference does it really make l. I’m not sure how the English translation and all other translations save the one you read have it the other way. And the Apostlr John supports this view as he affirmed in his epistle that cain was of the evil one and murdered his own brother because his actions were evil
