According to Los campesinos! This song was about how one of the band members Gareth met a person at an event and they started talking about the t-shirt he had on. It was only at the end of the week he found out she had a boyfriend, so he was heartbroken. He finds out her boyfriend also likes the same band because in the photo they are together wearing the same t-shirt. I know this music video doesn’t actually show any of this but it does have the components. The start when he met her, the middle where he reflects and is heartbroken, and the end when he gets mad because he got feelings for someone who just liked the same band, and nothing else

The ending is so sweet but sad 😭this is beautifully made and I love how Ash Is drawn LMFAO. I heavily relate to this song and this whole video made it seem like I'm not alone. The breakdown at the end is so cool. And the way it depicts how a guy loved this girl and she wasn't interested enough to keep their relationship (or friendship) going and she felt the need to cheat (lie etc.) This video really ties that all together. The line "for each correctly used apostrophe I could feel my heart sink inside my chest in front of me" has to be my favorite line from this song. It can be interpreted in so many ways but I think the main two I think of Is the girl writing a letter to the guy she liked, and It was so well-written that it showed her "love interest" that she really put effort into that letter and that showed how much she cared for the other guy and not him. The other is that she is sending a message to her love interest (the one she is cheating on) and it's so well typed as well and it makes him feel almost stupid? like shes trying to show him how smart she is. ANYWAYS ive typed too much LMAO but overall I love this song. I think it fits Wilbur's voice SO incredibly well. And I'm glad they covered this song and I like how each version can have different meanings bc of the tone, the way the lyrics are portrayed, etc. Of course all I said is what I interpreted this song to be, You can interpret this however you want. :]

I like to think the line “for each correctly used apostrophe I could feel my heat sink inside my chest in front of me” as if they are messaging each other, and when a conversation is good/lively, you don’t bother with typing out as much punctuation (Such as apostrophes). But, as time goes on she loses interest, and sometimes super proper punctuation in a conversation can come off as just that, lost interest. But I know this isn’t the case for everyone. As you said, everyone interprets it differently and that’s the beauty of it. :)

i don't think anybody will see this comment but i'll write it anyway. when i first listened to this song i never understood the last few lyrics, ("it's not what you like, it's what you're like as a person") but i met this dude who listened to the same music as me, we'd vibe to 505 by arctic monkeys and other bands and talk until ass o'clock. it felt like a movie. i never understood the meaning behind this song, (how the guy met a girl but after a week found out she had a bf and he ended up being heartbroken) i said how could someone be hurt by a person they only met. well this boy helped me understand this song and i sometimes wish it didn't have to be him ♡ - toms

I love how in the beginning the instrumental part is blaring and then it changes to more slow and ends up being so calming... Overall the song is amazing and well done!
