Y’know, even as someone who’s aroace and the songs mostly being about love/heartbreak, lovejoy still hits fucking deep. Genuinely, this is my favourite band. Usually when I listen to songs it’s just ‘ooooh funny beat make good sound’, but with lovejoy I can actually feel the emotions. Wilbur’s singing along with just the general music following along with his voice - like it may just be me who feels like - usually in songs you have the music + lyrics, but with lovejoy it’s music = lyrics, if that makes any sense at all.

Perfume is such a good song, its obviously an introspective look on someone going through a breakup where they're going through the motions of grief, denial bargaining anger depression acceptance, even the scent of their ex ticks them off and sends them into a spiral of anger and frustration and its just so relatable to me personally and makes me nearly cry whenever i listen to it, the ending is so impactful as it shows that no matter the amount of wishful thinking we do, our dreams of ever getting back with them (taxi) will never come and we need to learn to accept it and move on 😌
