PowderSkiingColorado.com From looking at a few weeks ago, I decided that I needed go experience Loveland first hand for myself and I'm glad I did! It's huge, well-served, unpretentious, old-school with massive amount of terrain and good snow.

Could not agree more - Loveland is an awesome place, great terrain and experience. I wish I had discovered years before - now it is my go-to mountain for the spring skiing

Lived in Colorado for a few years and Loveland is the best. Low crowd, and always gets more snow outta storms. Cheaper lifts, great bar, great people, it's a no brainer. I would go there over Vail or Breck or Copper any day of the week. Great review man.

I haven’t skied Colorado for 30 years but my fondest memories of skiing are late season and fresh powder days in Loveland. Especially with their late season tix for $25 circa 1992...good times

When they open Over the Rainbow, usually later in the year, which is off of Chair #1, it is an awesome area to ski. One year I was there when they opened it for the year (in March) and it was deep powder in steep glades and open, bowl like areas. A cool option close to Denver for advanced and extreme skiers - it is Crested Butte like...

My family moved to Colorado in 1970. Loveland was one of our go-to spots back then. It's a fun place. Don't tell too many people about it...shhh....

Loveland is an awesome place to ski not only for the terrain at it's value but they have the most afford all day children's ski school which is great for me to hit the ridge while they learn to ski or snowboard. Nice post!

Arapahoe Basin and Loveland are great places and so close to each other.

Sweet - there's a lot of skiing to be done around there - we moved south to Salida and I'm at Monarch most of the time - 15 minutes from my house. I think I said it, if I were still up there, I would do Loveland more and beat the crowds. Cheers!

My favorite Loveland bumper sticker says, "Loveland: Cold. Windy. You wouldn't like it." I have seldom skied there when it wasn't windy but that's part of its charm. We love that the snow often feels like fresh January snow, even in April. We've never skied there during a snowfall that didn't also come with wind (in five years of skiing it). That said, skiing Loveland in a cold, windy snowstorm is awesome.

Also, they're getting a new lift for Lift 1 - now called "Chet's Dream," a high-speed quad to serve that area. Turn and burn should really be fast there now.

He whats up Loveland is my home ski area, I go 2-3 times a week. On stormy Powder days go to chair lift 1 and stab someone if you have to when the mad rush to 1st chair starts it cracks me up every time with the mad dash it is completely acceptable and sometimes applauded . Then ride the steep stuff of of chair lift 1 its probably some of the steepest terrain there. If 9 was closed the day before due to storms, then go there, don't forget to get the cat pass ITS FREE!!!!. After powder starts getting tracked out you have options. Catwalk trees, failsafe trees, and westropes.... shhhh I could die for saying that. Now here is a little secrete I figured out last year. 3 days after the last snow I was ridding lift 8. If you ride down the backside of chair 8 and follow that all the way around there is an access gate on the other side. Go through it and start going up, snowboarders might want snowshoes for this and skiers may want skins. I didn't have snowshoes the first time and I fell in a powder stash almost up to my armpits I had to army crawl just to get up to where i wanted to drop in. It was 10000000% worth it. 3 days after storm fresh fresh powder.

Mahalo for the insight Bert! Headed to Denver (first time in Co.) trying to decide which venues to board within an hour from DIA. For the time and money this looks like the place to go! Any recommendations on places to stay? Will be there for 3 days.

Loveland has a 4 Pak for 139, it is 4 unrestricted lift tickets, can be used with as many people or days as you want. I'm still looking for somewhere to stay...will be there early January. Probably will stay in Frisco.

Hi I'm from Houston and never been to colorado, thinking of getting a hotel in denver and driving down I70 to loveland. Is this route ok for a driver unfamiliar with colorado road conditions?

Not a difficult drive at all if the weather is good. Major highways the whole way. But you will need to wake up well before dawn to get there when the lifts open.
