Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide.
Now, of my threescore years and ten,
Twenty will not come again,
And take from seventy springs a score,
It only leaves me fifty more.
And since to look at things in bloom
Fifty springs are little room,
About the woodlands I will go
To see the cherry hung with snow.

As always iam gathering main theme of poem and poet biography briefly here it’s main theme of loveliest of tree is impermanence of human life , it’s also taps on themes of natural beauty, death and transience of life . A . E is Alfred Edward houseman ( 1859- 1936) he was English classical scholar , poet and initially poor performance while at university. He took employment as clerk in London and established his academic reputation by publishing as private scholar first , later he was appointed professor of Latin at university of college of London and than at university of Cambridge. He is acknowledged as one of foremost classicist of his age and has been ranked as one of greatest scholars . His editions of Juvenal manillous and Lucan are still considered authoritative. His notable works shropshire lad.
