BLACKPINK's "How You Like That" doesn't have as much fog, but cinematically, I'd say it comes closer to "Kill This Love" than their other videos

BLACKPINK's music videos are the most expensive and elaborate in the entire kpop industry since they never use CGI or green screens, all the sets are real and all the special effects are practical.

As a filmmaker I think it would be very interesting for you to take a look at making the M/V, they exist for almost all their M/Vs! A fact that often amazes? They don't use green screen even when people are 100% sure they use it! In this M / V, at the start Jennie is really brought down from above with steel cables, the explosion is real, and the big heart-shaped trap is real!
@katyrose46163 жыл бұрын
the scene from 2:55 is supposed to represent a "bloodshot eye" meaning she has been crying/is upset. In the lyrics she mentions if i cry tears of blood from both eyes...

Thanks for the reaction. If you want to understand the symbolism in this MV you should review the English Priest reacts to Kill This Love, where they discuss things like the Greek mythological symbolism (head of Aphrodite in the back of chorus, symbolizing a rejection of hedonistic self destructive love) and the Freudian psychological symbolism (note the license plate on the car "EGO") . They appear to be killing themselves, but in fact it is their ID (driven by logic and ethics) and SuperEgo (that negotiates between the EGO and ID) that is trying to kill or at least control their EGO (that drives desire), to save the whole person from a toxic self destructive love affair. I know you like to see the pretty pictures ("cinematic" scenes), but you should know by know that there is also a depth of messaging that we in the West are not accustomed to seeing from our pop stars (I am looking at you WAP, and excluding Billie Eilish). And this depth of messaging creates a much more powerful experience when combined with the beautiful visuals.

i feel like the solos of the members are even more cinematic than kill this love Roses "On the ground", showing her reminising to her past and hopeful, music-enthusiastic self and admitting theres no going back now... and Jennies "solo" discovering her self worth

Someone probably told you somewhere in the comments but at 2:55 you said you didn't know what it's supposed to be, it's an eye, if you noticed the lyric at that time it's talking about eyes, crying etc. Also the swan scene with Jenny is cool because her black & white clothes match up with the swan 🙂

The video was shot in-studio. They do use rear screen projection, but no green screen (except for their debut video WHISTLE). The scene that you thought was a beta fish is an eye, the girl is the iris, when she wears the headpiece it becomes a bloodshot eye. The explosion in the Tomb Raider scene is real, check out the KILL THIS LOVE MAKING FILM.

🖇 *Kill This Love* 🖇 ---------------------- It's a second mini-album by BLACKPINK. It was released on April 5, 2019 with "Kill This Love" serving as the album's title track and "Don't Know What To Do" as a sub-title track. The lead single would be more "intense" than previous BLACKPINK songs but have a "strong rhythm" like "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du", and that the video choreography would be more "dynamic" than previous efforts. TMI /FUN FACT : Hey everyone! I was initially; when I was watching the Kill This Love MV for the first time , i noticed that the girls were wearing odd electronic device. Upon further inspection, I found the following: • Rosé was wearing a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active (drive scene) • all of them were wearing Samsung Galaxy Buds (chorus scene) • Jennie and Lisa were showing off the white/black ver Samsung Galaxy S10 S10+ phones.(duo rapping scene) • Jennie and Lisa, *spot* a lot of New samsung products in shelf behind them (duo rapping scene) ---------------------------------------------------------- *ADs* between their music video for Kill this love ??!! and damn, they just used some Samsung products in the music video. - I find it very interesting that since Blackpink is an endorser of Samsung, they must be contractually obligated to show Samsung products in their MVs. Despite appearing in the Galaxy A70 and A80 launch at Bangkok, Thailand, the group just featured with a lot of new things also ! They don't do this for their other brand endorsements (for example, Kia and Adidas etc.), so I believe Blackpink's contract with Samsung must be very big. Well, you can see more clearly in their *behind the scenes* video, it’s really nice to see that Samsung products can be seen on MVs like this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jl7Eknepas2Yh5Y ----

What makes me sad about Blackpink is that while I always enjoy the MVs, I can't say the same for their music. I like a few of their songs, but mostly they touch the same themes and their title tracks tend to have the same type of sound (let me clarify- they're not the same melodies, but they try to give the same feel). I know as a group they don't have the greatest freedom, but then it's still the company's fault. I actually enjoy more the solo bits I've heard sometimes, like Rosé's cover of "eyes closed". I know they have some more music now, but I'm not too motivated to listen to all of it. They're still a cool group regardless. Their videos though, I'll always recommend.
