Watching that interview I initially thought: that make sense, that's a good thing, Lily seems to be an average person so it would make sense if the wardrobe is casual and daily clothes instead of something super stylized and off-character (cough cough, emily in paris). But then the movie clips got out and I- no comments.

Like just have a disclaimer before them saying smth to the effect of ‘the following sensitive topics are in this book/film. Tysm for saying that men realising what they did was bad actually only within the context of it being their daughter/mother/sister because they’re the only women they see as people. WHAT do you MEAN men LITERALLY don’t see women as people!!!! That’s what that fucking means when it only hits home to them as morally wrong when it happens to daughter/sister/wives, they see them as people, other women in are not people in their eyes, they are less-then and don’t require the same consideration. As far as their ages, I think I heard that they purposely aged the characters up for the adult versions of them because their jobs were all those of people older than the book characters. (Like Ryle being a top neurosurgeon.)

I could rant for days about why I hate it ends with us (I refuse to watch the movie but I have read the book) and I’m convinced the name is cursed alone (all that drama around the movie was ridiculous like what in the world) but one of the fundamental issues with the book aside from the terrible writing and awful content was the fact that Colleen hates trigger warnings. Usually, this wouldn’t be an issue, I understand how some might find it annoying (though that isn’t really an excuse, I read this book at 16 having no idea what I was getting into) but when you’re advertising your book as a romance and it’s always sitting next to other romance books you are giving off a false message. Add trigger warnings, I don’t care if it ‘makes your book ugly’. Also don’t base the abuse on your mother’s life, that’s strange and not your story to tell. (Another thing I wanted to make note of; in the book (I don’t know if it’s the same in the movie) Atlas is an adult when they do it and she is a minor. I remember reading it and siding with the father because any rational human would see that as a crime. To Colleen it was a picturesque romance.)

i think this is because the film was shot in a way to show lily’s pov. when you’re in that type of situation, it can be fast and blurred. lily felt disoriented and didn’t understand what happened. she thought it was an accident, so we experienced that same confusion.

to me it came across as a moment where his anger issues come thru and she had to deal with the consequences of them, whether it was on purpose or not as the other replies said, it’s from lily’s pov so maybe it was or maybe it wasn’t rly an accident, there’s no way for us to rly know i guess. i will say i do see it as an accident tho? not to take away from the future moments where he is without a doubt being abusive n hurting her on purpose. regardless tho, it gives us a glimpse of how he handles situations.

If I’m not wrong, I’m the book I remember that he had burnt himself, and lily was a little tipsy and they were having a good time so she kinda started laughing bc he burnt his hand by accident and then he got mad at her, hit her and when he went to go help her up is when he got his hand cut and was just overall pissed bc it was his surgeon hand…. Overall making her feel bad bc he had a really important surgery the next day and kinda like “woah is me” vibes

I went to go watch it with my cousin after I got out of a relationship where I was emotionally and verbally abused due to alcohol right after I had my baby and while I was pregnant, but there was something about the movie that rubbed me in the worst way something about the movie made me hate it and I’m not entirely sure , your video really helped Because it made me realize I did not like the portrayal of the abuse because it made it seem like it was supposed to be realistic, but it wasn’t and it could’ve been a lot better than that at the end where she said that she wanted to divorce, a narcissist who had such a claim to their victim, would not take that lightly or be that willing to let go so quickly I don’t know. I just did not like the movie in retrospect someone who has been through abuse. Love you girl! I totally agree with the coloring. Aside from the flashbacks, it's awful. I don't see how people like this movie, or hate it...it's meh. I do appreciate how they portrayed domestic violence. Justin Baldoni is properly scary. It really sucks that people view domestic abuse as bad, when they think of it happening to someone they love. I get that it's a great way to develop empathy. I guess I just believe that you should be empathetic already 🤷‍♀

I knew the book would be powerful based on the message and I expected to cringe when she said the title but the way she delivered it broke me lol and due to coho being controversial I’d never read the book either, too much Ellen and just keep swimming dory references so you’re really not missing much. And I’m still pissed off at the fact that they marketed this movie as a cute girls movie and then just not include trigger warnings of any kind like that’s fvcked up and tricking teenage girls to go see a movie that literally doesn’t have anything to do with flowers besides the protagonist’s stupid name (tf is a lily blossom bloom?) and make em sit thru an unbearable relationship from beginning to end. Honestly disgusting and I agree that coho needs to just stop. She’d be better off making a movie from her book verity since she writes thriller better than romance. Her being a romance writer is honestly just damaging and she needs to be stopped. Glad to see less book girlies promoting her problematic books

honestly biggest L of the story is how easy it is for Lilly to leave the dude. Like the conclusion to you domestic abuse drama is "just leave him"? An abuser would literally rather you die before they let you leave and dude just had to be like "yeah ig abuse IS bad huh" and then let her go bc he truly loved her or some shit I think a more interesting film would be showing Lily go through the emotional hell and conflict of leaving her abuser. It takes people years to be able to leave
