I understand it’s the point of the movie, but can we stop casting people with normal or plus size bodies and making that the sole focus of the film? It’s either always about them losing weight or them being heavier and despite that the guy still loves her etc. like why do we have to point out weight? Can’t they just exist and be beautiful!?!? We don’t need to point out the every time a woman isn’t stick thin. Just cast them as a love interest without the plot revolving around their appearance.

I was hoping you’d review this! I went in with the LOWEST of expectations. I liked seeing someone like myself be represented on screen. I loved these characters. I liked that they let her be cool and not awkward the whole time. As for her being a leader, I think that whole thing was nuanced and hinted throughout, but not as major. I just consider things being cut for time and budget. Overall, I really liked this movie, and it’ll be one of those comfort films.

i feel like spanx are used in some people's minds as a diss, because it can be used to slim a little - it's like calling her fat (which like, yikes) but also, people of all sizes wear stuff like that under dresses to just be smoothed out and make sure the dress looks good, it's form-fitting and elastic also also doesn't show up like idk an underwire bra under a dress that would probably be more visible.... it doesn't have to be about looking thinner (and i think some is even padded? so i guess that could also be an insult...)
