The third in the LOVLTD series comes from Laurie ‘Pixl’, a young producer from Cambridge who spins regularly for Jungle Syndicate and the West Yorkshire Jungle Collective, as well as appearing regularly on the Jungletrain radio platform with Hollie Anthwax. On this 12 we get 2 original productions and 2 remixes by Tim Reaper and Scrase.
‘Outer Reaches’ is on the A side, the original mix is a smooth but lively jungle popper with detailed break cuts, gorgeous pads and lots of space, bound together by a big bass line. Love Love longtime homeboy Scrase is on remix duties for this one taking it to strange new alien braindance territories. Blaring bass tones lay a foundation for some signature melodic content and nuff slippery choppage.
On the flip side is ‘Frosts Of Neptune’, an amen workout more akin to the old school sound. 94 style rave pads, sharp amen chops and RnB vocal samples provide the ingredients for this ruffneck dancefloor boomer. London legend Tim Reaper gives us his remix for B2 utilising tidal bass and a foaming top end for maximum shake and skank, with some seriously phased out breaks to send your synapses in strange directions and a relentless groove to keep you dancing till the end of the night.
The artwork is again an old snap from the All World Experts photo album, this time featuring the ‘Dragon Bomber’ by Check.
