A good percentage of people that were doing it likely weren't actual fans. Pikamee can no longer speak, as she graduated and had her accounts nuked about a month ago, give or take. Silver at least stated she didn't endorse it. I'm one of the LGBT fans of Silvervale who was sent death threats simply for 1. Being Silvervale's fan. 2. Being LGBT. Despite the fact I don't even attend her streams. They saw those two coinciding and immediately sent me death threats out of nowhere, and any attempt I made to reach out to Silvervale was met with more death threats and harassment. So I come from a place of genuine concern, while also being aware of the actual context with Silvervale and Pikamee. Namely, Pikamee's retirement was planned months in advance, her stream schedule was getting more erratic, and she was candidly sharing how she wasn't feeling Vtubing anymore and her agency wasn't giving her as much freedom as she would have liked. The media coverage was also disproprortionate. Villifying the LGBT for Silvervale and Pikamee, but completely ignoring the transphobic harassment that Froot, Shenpai, and Jocat got for deciding to stream for trans charities and not play Hogwarts Legacy. I was reminded of a joke on Family Guy about the media only making a sensation out of chldren dying in accidents if the child is white.
