How long does it take for the hair to grow back when it’s been cut that low?
@MiTajBeauty3 жыл бұрын
Good Question @LoveofGrooming
@LoveofGrooming3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the age of the dog. Puppies and young dogs will grow faster then senior dogs. This dog is young so in a month he may have 1/2 to 1inch of coat or more. Some coats grow very fast.

Does de matting dogs hurt them? I guess if they do to aggressively with the clippers?
@LoveofGrooming Жыл бұрын
Yes the matts hurt as they pull the skin and brushing them out can be painful. If severely matted sometimes the shaving can be a bit painful. Some dogs require sedation at the vet clinic

How long does it take them to grow back after a shave like this?
@LoveofGrooming Жыл бұрын
The hair grows at different rates depending on the age of the dog. Young dogs coats can grow quickly while senior dogs seems to grow slower. It can grow about an inch each month.

That little dog was so clam and patience she knew that she was being help for the better. An I truly hope that dog didn’t belong to anyone if so you should have reported them to the humane society. That’s just straight up animal abuse common sense would told the owner to had brush the dogs hair everyday or every other day so it wouldn’t become matted especially like the poor little dog was. Let alone properly drying the dog off when giving a bath plus brushing...... You did an excellent job fixing that dog.

How much would you charge for a matted dog? Do you go by the hour?
@LoveofGrooming4 жыл бұрын
It depends on how matted the dog is. I charged $40.00 on top of my price. I charge $1.00 a minute. If the dog was tightly matted like the mats on her underarms and hock area I would of charge alot more as it would of taken me so much longer. I charge my regular fee and then $1.00 on top of that price.

Hi everyone! I recently got a two month old Maltese (boy), who absolutely hates grooming, especially the eyes, Which he will not let me clean or touch ( It's impossible to keep him still, and sometimes he even growls). If anyone has any tips on how to gradually get him used to grooming, and how to give him a bath for the first time, I would be so grateful! Thanks!
@LoveofGrooming4 жыл бұрын
Hi, use positive reinforcement. Touch around the eyes and praise and treat when he lets you. Stay positive as he can pick up your emotions and react. Do short sessions, like 1 minute a couple times a day. Once he lets you touch him then start with a comb and move forward from there. It may take a while. When bathing him you could use a cloth for his face or wet your hands and then touch around his eyes with your wet fingers to wet his fur. Use a cup and fill with water and gently your around his eyes and praise and treat when he behaves.
