Too many singers today believe that they need to use songs to show off their voices, instead, beating a song into submission to "make it their own". In my opinion, that rarely works. Whitney Houston succeeded with "I Will Always Love You", according to the song's writer, Dolly Parton. I am sure I would prefer to hear Allison sing that song in her style over either Dolly's or Whitney's versions.

I can't say enough good things about the spare way in which you approach recording. You don't overdo anything, and the music keeps its innocence and air of realness as a result. The sentiment of the song itself brings to mind a lot of Leonard Cohen stuff, like "Sisters of Mercy" or "Tonight Will Be Fine". You should focus more energy on writing. I'd buy an album of your originals in a heartbeat.

It's a treat to hear something you wrote yourself. A simple love song, sung sweetly, & most importantly: genuinely, uniquely; _that's_ what matters. Joni Mitchell has aged. After having reached the peak of her powers, she's still at times managed to outdo her contemporaries, combined even.
