This video always makes me cry. The song is, on its own, heart-wrenchingly beautiful, but I think that it's Lennie's frail appearance that adds a certain sadness to the lyrics. Lennie's voice is still great and when I hear Bowzer's and Johnny's spot on harmony, I can't get through the entire song without tearing up. Just beautiful!

I truly love this video........mostly because of the joy on their faces at the end of the song. You can really see the love and respect these wonderful performers have for one another and the music. Having seen Sha Na Na over 20 times since 1971 I was always so impressed by their talent, professionalism, and the effort they made to leave their audience happy and screaming for more. @@LisaKoffler I did know that Lenny passed. I don't know who is left or if they still perform but they certainly had their hay day and can considered themselves successful artists. Santini went on to become a doctor and the black guy ( I can't remember his name) became a law professor, I think but don't quote me. I didn't know Bowser and Johnny did cruise ships but its the right audience age for their music. I'm glad to hear they are active and still doing what they love.

Tonithenightowl, the black guy is the late Denny Greene, and we've also lost "Dirty" Dan and Chico. Sha Na Na is STILL performing and "Screamin'" Scott, Donny, and Jocko are the only original members left in the group. There are currently 7 members, and the 4 new members are "Downtown" Michael Brown, Tim Butler, Ty Cox, and Randy Hill. All I had to do was go to their website to learn about what was going on. You need to be outstanding to be part of the group, and that's what "Bowzer" and Johnny were. I'm curious about seeing them in concert again with the current lineup, but I don't know if that will happen, and I don't know if I'll go on one of the cruise ships, either. I do agree with you that the cruise ships are family-oriented and Sha Na Na is a family-friendly group. Doing what you love is the best thing to do, and I'm extremely proud of "Bowzer" and Johnny!

Greased and Ready To Kick Ass, Sha Na Na........ They started every concert with that: I saw these guys in Chicago on 3 occasions in 71, 72, and 73. Got caught trying to smuggle in some beer and got plucked out of line by the Andy Frain Security. All they did was take it away. I bet they enjoyed my Coors as it wasn't yet available East of the Mississippi :)

It was great to hear these three guys singing together again. Lenny looks like he's had some health issues. I hope he's doing better. Does he ever play the saxophone anymore? As I recall, he once played with Danny and the Juniors.

A couple of years he passed away he told me he didn't anymore because it was hard on him physically. 😥 on a lighter side he said if he played it around his dog it would scare her 🤪

Bowser had a falling out with some of the guys in the band which caused his departure. He still has stayed friends with them despite it all. He had stated he was mostly close with Lenny and they still stayed friends right until Lenny's passing.
